Minority members of the Senate including Senator Risa Hontiveros have been elected as part of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).

On Monday, a heated exchange transpired between the chamber’s leaders after Senate Minority Leader Vicente Sotto III blocked Villanueva’s motion to elect 10 members of the majority bloc as CA members. Sotto argued that the composition of the powerful body should follow party lines and representation.
