Carolinian Pride on the SEA Games Podium!

Four Carolinians, Andrew Kim Remolino, Franklin Ferdie Yee, Matthew Justine Hermosa, and ArtJoy Torregosa took Cebu and the Philippines by storm at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand this December 2025!

Remolino capped a historic SEA Games campaign with four medals, including the country’s first triathlon gold in the mixed relay, silver medals in the men’s individual triathlon and mixed relay aquathlon, and a bronze in the men’s relay aquathlon—the most medals he has ever won in a single international competition.

Yee earned his first SEA Games podium finish with silver in duathlon, building on his earlier success as overall champion of the Cebu Duathlon.

Adding to the Philippines’ triumphs, Matthew Justine Hermosa delivered a strong showing in triathlon events, winning gold in the Men’s Team Relay (Triathlon) and silver in the Aquathlon Mixed Team Relay.

Meanwhile, ArtJoy Torregosa made a memorable SEA Games debut in the women’s marathon, powering through the grueling 42-kilometer race to clinch a silver medal, bringing pride to both the University of San Carlos and the nation

These medal-winning performances aren’t just wins—they’re proof that Carolinian excellence knows no borders.

A new era of technical education begins at USC!

The University of San Carlos will begin offering Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Level V Diploma Programs in Manufacturing and Semiconductor Technology, Manufacturing Technology, and Information Technology next semester!

A PQF Level V Diploma is an advanced, post-secondary technical qualification designed to equip learners with higher-level skills and specialized competencies needed in complex, technology-driven industries.

At USC, completing a PQF Level V Diploma may allow a students to transition into a full engineering degree with only two additional years of study, depending on the program.

This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of the USC School of Engineering; the Department of Mechanical Engineering led by Dr. Michael E. Loretero, (Chair, Department of Mechanical Engineering); Dr. Bonifacio Mercado Jr. (Director, Community Extension Services, CES); industry partners; and TESDA Region VII.

We are excited to share that our Bachelor of Science in Architecture program has been granted Level 1 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU), valid until November 2028.

This is a huge achievement, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the USC administration, our faculty, students, staff, and all stakeholders for their invaluable contributions. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to provide exceptional education for our students.

The University of San Carlos (USC) enjoins the Carolinian community to stand in solidarity with Sugboanong Pakigbisog Kontra Korapsyon (SuPaKK), a collective movement advocating for transparency, accountability, and good governance in Cebu and beyond.

Carolinians are invited to gather at the USC Downtown Campus today, November 30, 2025, from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM, before proceeding together to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu for the Holy Mass. This unified participation reflects a shared commitment to civic responsibility and moral leadership within both public and private institutions.

Attendees are encouraged to wear the 150th SVD founding anniversary white shirt or any USC shirt, as well as a white ribbon to signify the community’s shared commitment to combating corruption and promoting integrity.

Through this collective action, USC reaffirms its role as a Catholic educational institution committed to truth, justice, and servant leadership — values at the heart of the SuPaKK advocacy.
