San Nicolas Elementary School
"Earthquakes can occur at any time and without warning, making preparedness vital to ensuring the safety of every learner and school staff member."
In line with DepEd's commitment to disaster risk reduction and management, San Nicolas Elementary School successfully conducted its School-Based Earthquake Drill. The initiative aimed to strengthen the school’s disaster readiness and sharpen its emergency response capabilities.
Community & Team Collaboration
The drill was safely and effectively executed thanks to a strong collaborative effort between the School DRRM Team and our invaluable community partners:
• PNP Station 11
• Brgy. Duljo Fatima ERT
• San Nicolas Proper Medical Team
Key Highlights and Activities
The activity gave students, teachers, and staff hands-on experience practicing essential earthquake safety protocols, focusing on:
- The "Duck, Cover, and Hold" Technique: Mastering the immediate self-protection response.
- Orderly Evacuation: Navigating out of school buildings calmly and safely.
- Assembly Protocols: Gathering at designated safe zones for proper headcounts.
- Emergency Response Coordination: Synchronizing efforts with local emergency units for swift action.
Beyond the physical protocols, the drill highlighted the vital role that teamwork, clear communication, and quick decision-making play during a crisis. Through these ongoing efforts, San Nicolas Elementary School continues to build a culture of preparedness and resilience, ensuring our entire school community is confident, equipped, and ready to protect one another in times of emergency.
