DMS Hosts Adelante LMS Retooling for its Professors

The Department of Mathematics and Sciences (DMS) of SAS successfully conducted its Adelante LMS Retooling on August 3, 2026, equipping faculty members with enhanced knowledge and practical skills in maximizing the University's Learning Management System for innovative and effective teaching.

The activity featured distinguished resource speakers Ms. Alyssa Joyce R. Tan and Mr. Violdan Bayocot, who shared valuable insights, best practices, and hands-on strategies for creating engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences through the Adelante LMS.

"DMS reaffirms its commitment to continuous faculty development and to strengthening transformative, future-ready instruction in the digital age," said Prof. Miguelito A. Ruelan, DMS Chairperson, in his opening remarks.

𝐔𝐒𝐉-𝐑 𝐃𝐂𝐋𝐋 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐎𝐔 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐔𝐏 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚

The University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R) through the Department of Communication, Languages and Literature (DCLL) of the School of. Arts and Sciences (SAS), formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Communication Research of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) on July 31, 2026, at the PUP Main Campus in Manila.

The MOU establishes a broad framework for collaboration, including faculty exchange and academic engagement, joint webinars and seminars, collaborative research initiatives, external research evaluation, extension and community engagement programs, and future academic projects.

Through these initiatives, USJ-R and PUP aim to strengthen instruction, research, and extension by promoting the exchange of expertise, enhancing research productivity, fostering publication initiatives, and expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty members, researchers, students, and industry practitioners.

Representing USJ-R during the ceremonial signing were Dr. Ian Jarabelo, Chairperson of the Department of Communication, Languages and Literature, and Dr. Ethel Luz Medado, faculty member of the department and former Chair of the same department.

Representing PUP were Dr. Joey Alagaran, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Jeffrey Ancheta, Chairperson of the Department of Communication Research.

The MOU has been realized through the efforts of Dr. Ian Jarabelo, DCLL Chairperson.

Nakikiisa ang School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) ng University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R) sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2026 sa temang "Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon."

Sa panahon ng mabilis na pag-unlad ng teknolohiya, nananatiling mahalagang sandigan ang Wikang Filipino sa pagpapalawak ng kaalaman, pagpapayaman ng pananaliksik, at pagpapalakas ng ating pambansang identidad.

Patuloy nating gamitin ang Wikang Filipino nang may pagmamalaki, pananagutan, at kahusayan—kasabay ng responsableng paggamit ng Artificial Intelligence (AI) bilang katuwang sa paglikha, pananaliksik, at inobasyon.

Sama-sama nating itaguyod ang isang makabuluhan at makabagong kinabukasan na nakaugat sa ating wika, kultura, at pagpapahalaga. Mabuhay ang Wikang Filipino! 🇵🇭

SAS Representatives Attend NCCA Project Proposal Writeshop for 2027 Competitive Grants Program

The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) actively participated in the Project Proposal Writeshop for the 2027 Competitive Grants Program organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) on 30 July 2026 at the University of the Philippines Cebu Performing Arts Hall.

Representing the University were Mr. Giovanni Pierro C. Malitao Jr., Chairperson of the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, and the SAS Dean.

The whole-day writeshop provided participants with comprehensive guidance on the NCCA’s 2027 Competitive Grants Program, covering the call for proposals, accreditation requirements and process, grants evaluation procedures, and hands-on project proposal writing.

The activity also featured open forum sessions that enabled participants to clarify program guidelines and strengthen their understanding of the grant application process.
