NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES TOMORROW (25 NOVEMBER 2025)
Following the Cebu City Government’s directive suspending all face-to-face classes due to Tropical Depression Verbena, UP Cebu will shift to online learning tomorrow, 25 November 2025.
The weather system is expected to bring heavy rains, and this precautionary measure prioritizes the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
The community is once again advised to revisit Memorandum No. CLM 2025-033, General Framework on Class Modality and Work Arrangement, which outlines the protocols for class delivery and work arrangements during weather-related disruptions.
Everyone is encouraged to stay updated through official advisories, avoid unnecessary travel, prepare essential needs and emergency kits, and check on family members and neighbors.
For emergencies, contact 911 or 0917 839 9698. Stay safe and vigilant.

ASYNCHRONOUS MODE OF CLASSES
The University of the Philippines Cebu will implement asynchronous classes from November 10 to 16, 2025 to allow the community to attend to post-typhoon needs. The campus and its facilities will remain open during this period.
Employees may request Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) subject to the approval of their respective heads of office and the exigency of the service.
Face-to-face classes and onsite work will resume on November 17, 2025, unless otherwise announced.

In consideration of the recent earthquakes and their impact on the UP Cebu community, a phased transition to onsite work and classes will be implemented to allow sufficient time for recovery and adjustment.
14–19 October 2025 (Tuesday to Sunday)
Asynchronous Period
All classes shall be conducted asynchronously to give faculty, students, and staff time to recover, attend to family needs, and stabilize living and study conditions. Flexible work arrangements, extended deadlines, and alternative learning activities are encouraged, consistent with Memorandum No. CLM 2025-033.
20 October–02 November 2025 (Monday to Sunday)
Online Synchronous Period
Faculty may conduct online synchronous sessions, provided asynchronous options are available for those unable to attend. This period also allows the community time with their families during the Undas season.
03–05 November 2025
Independent Study and Integration Period (ISIP)
06 November 2025 onwards
Resumption of Face-to-Face Classes
Regular onsite work and classes shall resume on Thursday, 06 November 2025, subject to ongoing safety inspections and facility assessments. Flexible arrangements may still be observed when necessary.
Faculty, students, and staff experiencing displacement, distress, or connectivity issues shall be provided appropriate support and flexibility, in coordination with their program coordinators and the Office of Student Affairs.
This issuance supersedes Memorandum Nos. CLM 2025-042 and CLM 2025-044 and shall serve as the operative policy on class modality and work arrangements until further notice.

Memo. No. CLM 2025-044 will remain in effect from tomorrow, October 14 to October 19, 2025, during which UP Cebu shall continue the temporary shift to online classes.
Everyone is reminded to stay safe and await further updates through official UP Cebu channels.

NO F2F CLASSES UNTIL OCTOBER 19
In light of the recent earthquakes and to ensure the safety and well-being of its constituents, UP Cebu shall temporarily shift to online classes effective immediately until Sunday, 19 October 2025.
During this period, classes will be conducted online, either synchronously or asynchronously, at the discretion of the faculty member. Students who are unable to join synchronous sessions shall be given opportunities to participate asynchronously when practicable.
Campus access will be limited to residential buildings, the canteen, and open spaces. The Performing Arts Hall (PAH), Learning Commons, and Administration Building may be accessed upon prior authorization from the Chancellor or the latter’s representative.

Face-to-face classes will resume on Monday, 20 October 2025.

POST-EARTHQUAKE BUILDING SAFETY UPDATE
Early this morning, October 10, 2025, a powerful magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao, more than 600 kilometers from Cebu. Despite the distance, the tremor was felt across Cebu City at Intensity IV on the instrumental intensity scale.
In response, the University of the Philippines Cebu conducted an initial visual assessment of its facilities. The Lahug Campus remains safe, with no new structural damage observed following the inspections made after the September 30 earthquake.
The Office of the Campus Architect (OCA) team is currently en route to the SRP Campus to conduct precautionary inspections and ensure the safety and integrity of the buildings there.
Any building-related concerns may be reported to the OCA or the Campus Maintenance Office (CMO). Please remain calm and alert, especially in anticipation of possible aftershocks.
UP Cebu reminds its constituents to continue to prioritize their safety and well-being as it closely monitors developments following this morning’s earthquake.
