Empowering Lives Beyond the Classroom
The partnership between The Institut Européen de Coopération et Développement (IECD) (IECD) and Cebu Institute of Technology - University (CIT-U) continues to make an impact as the 2nd and 3rd sessions of the Life Safeguarding Skills discussions were successfully conducted on December 6 and December 13.

These sessions provided participants with essential life skills, nurturing resilience, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making, preparing them not only for the workplace, but for life itself.

We are deeply grateful for this meaningful collaboration that empowers individuals and strengthens communities. A big thank you to this amazing partnership that continues to empower individuals and strengthen communities.

In line with our shared advocacy for community empowerment and skills development, the Institute of Technology - University(CIT-U), through the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (DHTM), in proud partnership with The Institut Européen de Coopération et Développement (IECD), officially launched Batch 2 of the Baking and Pastry Training Program!
Last December 3, we welcomed 7 enthusiastic ALS learners and 4 empowered women from Barangay Basak Pardo for their orientation. As beneficiaries of this community-based livelihood initiative, they are now set to embark on a hands-on journey of mastering baking and pastry production, equipping them with essential skills to build sustainable income opportunities and uplift their families and communities.
Here’s to new beginnings, empowered learners, and countless sweet possibilities ahead!

What began with flour, hope, and humble beginnings has now risen into something truly extraordinary!

Our passionate Bread and Pastry Production trainees from Cebu Institute of Technology – University and IECD proudly presented their final masterpiece through a dessert buffet themed Festival Bakes — a vibrant celebration of flavors, culture, and creativity. Each participant showcased 8 unique pastries, handcrafted with love, skill, and purpose.

But beyond the beautiful desserts is a deeper story — one of commitment, resilience, and unwavering perseverance. From being complete novices, they have grown into confident bakers — equipped not just with technical skills, but with the courage to dream bigger and push further.

Today, we don’t just celebrate their final exam — we celebrate their transformation.

May this newfound skill be more than just a recipe for delicious pastries — may it be the start of a journey toward financial freedom, personal growth, and a future filled with opportunities.
