As Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus counts down to its historic 𝟕𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲, a monumental step has been taken to immortalize its rich legacy.

On June 17, 2026, school administrators, SHS-HDJ Foundation President, and creative partners gathered for the official signing of the 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐌𝐎𝐔) for the production of a commemorative 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦. This special documentary project aims to capture the seven-decade journey of the school from its providential beginnings rooted in the shared mission of the Hijas de Jesus Sisters and the Jesuit fathers, to its enduring impact as a pillar of Integral Christian Education for the Chinese community and the wider Cebuano society.

The MOU signing brought together key leaders of the Hijas-Hearter community, symbolizing a shared commitment to honoring the school's past while inspiring its future. Representing the school administration were 𝐒𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐌. 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝐅.𝐈., Representative of the Congregation in the Apostolic Work; 𝐒𝐫. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐚 𝐌. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚, 𝐅.𝐈., School Treasurer; and 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐀. 𝐈𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐚, School Principal. Their presence underscored the project’s alignment with the school's core identity and spiritual mission.

The project is made possible through the generous stewardship of the 𝐒𝐇𝐒-𝐇𝐃𝐉 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 serving as the primary benefactor, represented by its President, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐧. Through the Foundation's unwavering support, this creative endeavor transitions from a vision into reality, ensuring that the stories of grace, dedication, and community are preserved for generations to come.

Bringing this narrative to life on screen is 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐫𝐨, who participated in the signing as the head of the video production service provider.

The formal signing was witnessed by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧𝐧 𝐂. 𝐀𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨, Learning Resources Center Coordinator, and 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐁. 𝐎𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐚, English-High School Coordinator. Their involvement highlights the collaborative spirit of the faculty and staff in safeguarding the institutional memory and academic excellence of the school.

With the legalities sealed and the creative roadmap laid out, production for the 𝟕𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 is officially underway. Hijas-Hearters can look forward to a cinematic tribute that celebrates a legacy that is truly 70 years in the making.

From 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟏-𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, we—the Batch 2 retreatants—gathered at the peaceful 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞, 𝐍𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐠 to step away from the noise of daily life and quiet our hearts in prayer and fellowship. What a transformative and grace-filled experience it was!

As we return to our usual routines, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose. We extend our deepest, most heartfelt thanks to 𝐒𝐫. 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧, 𝐒𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐫. 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 for beautifully facilitating this retreat. Thank you for your guidance, your wisdom, and for helping us understand and inculcate the deeper meaning of 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧—our profound identity as beloved children of God. You didn't just teach us; you truly anchored us in the reality of the Father’s love.

To all my fellow retreatants, a beautiful seed has been planted in each of our hearts over these past two days. The retreat may be over, but the journey of growth is just beginning. Let us commit to daily nurturing this seed through prayer, kindness, and reflection, ensuring that what began in the quiet of the retreat house blossoms beautifully in our everyday lives.

As we move forward, we carry with us a collective challenge: 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. Being a child of God isn't just a comforting thought; it is a way of living. Purihin ang Panginoon sapagkat Siya ay makapangyarihan. Ang Diyos ay pag-ibig, at ang pag-ibig ay nagmumula sa Diyos. Tulad ng isang magsasakang maingat na nagtatanim at nag-aaruga ng mga binhi upang mamunga, patuloy ding nililinang ng Diyos Ama ang ating mga puso upang ihanda tayo sa misyong ipinagkakatiwala Niya sa atin.

Katatapos lamang ng unang pangkat ng mga retreatant ng isang makabuluhan at puno ng biyayang apat na araw na tahimik na retiro sa 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞. Binubuo ito ng 26 na kalahok na sinamahan at ginabayan nina 𝐒𝐫. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐅.𝐈., 𝐒𝐫. 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐦, 𝐅.𝐈., 𝐒𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝐅.𝐈., 𝐒𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨, 𝐅.𝐈., at 𝐒𝐫. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚, 𝐅.𝐈. Bago simulan ang paghahanda para sa darating na taon ng panuruan, nabigyan ang mga g**o at tagapagturo ng pagkakataong huminto sandali, manahimik, at makatagpo ang Diyos sa gitna ng katahimikan.

Isa sa mga mahahalagang paalala ng spiritual retreat ay ang katotohanang upang marinig ang tugon ng Diyos, kailangan muna nating matutong manahimik. Ang panalangin ay hindi lamang tungkol sa paghingi ng ating mga kahilingan. Higit pa rito, ito ay ang pagiging tapat sa Diyos at pagbubukas ng ating puso upang Siya ay makapasok sa pinakamalalim na bahagi ng ating pagkatao. Sa katahimikan, natututo tayong maging bukas at matapang na harapin maging ang ating mga hindi nasasambit na pangamba at takot, habang buong pagtitiwalang iniaalay ang mga ito sa Kanya.

Binigyang-diin din ng retiro ang kahalagahan ng 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 o ang mas malalim na pakikipag-ugnayan sa Diyos Ama. Tawagin man natin Siya bilang Abba, Papa, o Tatay, nananatiling totoo na tayo ay minahal na Niya bago pa man tayo natutong magmahal. Lubos Niya tayong kilala at minamahal nang higit pa sa ating kayang maunawaan. Sa gitna ng lahat ng hamon sa buhay, muli tayong pinaalalahanan ng isang mahalagang katotohanan: tayo ay mga anak ng Diyos.

Kasabay ng pagpapalalim ng ating relasyon sa Diyos ay ang panawagan sa pagkakapatiran o 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲. Ang tunay na bunga ng pagmamahal ng Diyos at ang ating relasyon sa Kanya bilang mga anak ay masasalamin sa paraan ng ating pakikitungo sa kapwa. Ito ay makikita sa diwa ng 𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧—isang mahalagang pagpapahalagang Pilipino na nagpapakita ng pagkakaisa, malasakit, at pagtutulungan. Sa mundong nahaharap sa pagkakawatak-watak (𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛), labis na pagkamakasarili (𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑚), kawalang-pakialam (𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒), at kultura ng pagtatapon (𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑤-𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒), tayo ay tinatawagan upang maging mga tagapaghatid ng pag-asa at pagkakaisa. Hindi na kailangan ng mundo ng higit pang galit at kadiliman; kailangan nito ng mga taong handang pumili ng habag kaysa kaginhawaan at pagmamahal kaysa pagwawalang-bahala.

Pinaalalahanan din tayo ng retiro na ang dakilang pag-ibig ng Diyos ay hindi dapat manatili lamang sa ating sarili. Tayo ay tinatawag upang ibahagi ito sa ating mga kapatid. Nawa'y piliin nating maging mga taong hindi nagdadalawang-isip na magbigay ng kabutihan, pag-unawa, at pagmamahal, may kapalit man ito o wala. Minsan, ang isang simpleng ngiti, mabuting salita, o munting pagkilos ng pagmamalasakit ay maaaring siya mismong pag-ibig na kailangan ng isang taong ating nakakasalamuha.

Sa kabuuan ng spiritual retreat, muli nating binalikan ang karisma ni Santa Candida Maria de Jesus—ang 𝐓𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐤 𝐇𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐬: 𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐰𝐚. Ito ang paanyayang makita si Kristo sa bawat taong ating nakakasalamuha at tumugon nang may malasakit, paggalang, at pagmamahal.

Nang matapos ang panahon ng katahimikan at nagsimulang ibahagi ng mga retreatants ang mga biyayang kanilang natanggap, naging isang napakagandang tanawin ang muling pagsasama-sama ng mga pusong hinipo ng Diyos. Ang mga kuwento ng biyaya, paghilom, at pagbabagong-loob ay naging patunay ng Kanyang patuloy na pagkilos sa buhay ng bawat isa.

"𝐴𝑘𝑜 𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑚, 𝑠𝑖 𝐴𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑑𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑔, 𝑛𝑔𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝐷𝑖𝑦𝑜𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑖𝑦𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑝𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑔𝑜." (1 Corinto 3:6) Sa pagbabalik sa kani-kaniyang gawain at misyon, nawa'y patuloy na lumago ang mga binhing itinanim sa mga puso sa panahon ng banal na pagninilay na ito. Nawa'y patuloy itong diligin ng biyaya ng Diyos upang mamunga ng pag-ibig, pananampalataya, paglilingkod, at pagkakapatiran sa ating buhay, sa ating paaralan, at sa ating mga pamayanan sa pagsisimula ng bagong taon ng panuruan.

The School Administration formally announces the opening of enrollment for School Year 2026–2027 beginning June 1, 2026. Families may select either onsite enrollment (7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with a 3:00 p.m. cut-off) or online enrollment accessible anytime via shs-hljas.app.

Key Dates and Guidelines:
- Early Enrollment Period: June 1–5, 2026 (Monday–Friday, within office hours except holidays)
- Spiritual Retreat of School Personnel: June 7–14, 2026 (skeletal work setup; expect onsite delays)
- Late Enrollment: July 2026
- Opening of Classes
