December 30 — Rizal Day
Today, we solemnly remember Dr. José Rizal, the Philippines’ National Hero, whose life, intellect, and sacrifice helped awaken the Filipino nation. On this day in 1896, Rizal was executed at Bagumbayan, yet his ideals of freedom, justice, and love for the country continue to live on more than a century later.

Filipinos were made aware of the reality of oppression by Rizal's writings, nonviolent resistance, and unshakable patriotism, which motivated them to seek national identity and unification. He demonstrated that the pen can be just as effective as a sword and that bravery, discernment, and selfless service to the public are the hallmarks of true heroism.

As we commemorate Rizal Day today, may we reflect on his teachings and strive to embody his values in our daily lives—standing for truth, respecting our fellow Filipinos, and loving our country with sincerity and purpose. His sacrifice reminds us that freedom is hard-earned and must be protected by every generation.

A Good Visayanian Student Leader Is What We Are🎙️💚🤍

Today, December 12, 2025, the University of the Visayas- Pardo Campus has once again triumphantly subjugated a seminar that was managed by the Visayanian Pardo Students Council along together with the UV Minglanilla Student Organization. This seminar was aimed to inspire, motivate, and teach young student leaders. Also, to engrave an important mindset to these student leaders, which is to cultivate a vision and a purpose in order to accomplish an impactful journey—that would lead to great opportunities in the future.

Student leaders from all across different clubs in the UVPC, were invited to join and learn from this very exact seminar. A notable agenda that happened in the seminar were the activities provided and prepared by the SSG organization, whereas the purpose of these following activities is to shape the minds of our young student leaders by giving them a hand- on -hand experience where they would also acquire an important lesson that would help them on their way in becoming a great leader. As our speaker for today, whom is Mr. Philip Almanon share some wise words, it can be seen in the students' eyes that something is awakening inside them—which is a better version of themselves as leaders.

Such an event helped our future leaders become a figure that is willing to take the risk and the responsibilities of an actual good leading figure. Not only does it associate with the idea of shaping minds, but it also helps students know themselves more, with the capabilities that they can do and the amount of changes that they can exhibit in the future. In this seminar, it taught our Visayanian Student Leaders to be the reason for an impactful change in the future.

UV Pardo Fire Drill & Safety Seminar 2025🧯🔥

A step toward a safer and more prepared campus

For the fourth time, the University of the Visayas – Pardo Campus successfully carried out its Fire Drill & Safety Seminar, continuing its commitment to building a well prepared and informed school community.

The Bureau of Fire Protection officers led the session by explaining the proper way to use a fire extinguisher, identifying its different parts, and discussing the various types of fire extinguishers used for different fire situations. Their clear and detailed explanations helped students understand that fire safety goes beyond quick reactions, it requires the right knowledge and the right tools.

After the discussion, students were given the chance to practice using a real fire extinguisher, turning the seminar into a hands on and memorable learning experience. For many, it was their first time handling one, making the activity both exciting and eye opening.

As UV Pardo completes its fourth fire drill seminar, the campus once again proves that preparedness is a shared responsibility. With the guidance of the BFP officers and the active participation of students and staff, the university continues to strengthen its culture of safety and readiness. 🚒🛡️🔥
