The FSTLP CTU-Main proudly extends its warmest congratulations to our esteemed Adviser, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗡. 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗰𝗼, for receiving the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 (𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗦) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, organized by the Asia-Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators (APCORE) in partnership with the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

The summit, held on May 26–29, 2026, at Alta D’ Tagaytay, Tagaytay City, Philippines, carried the theme “𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮: 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨.”

Dr. Angco’s award-winning paper, “𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙀𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨: 𝘼 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙖-𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣,” stood out among all presentations under SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Rather than simply reviewing existing literature, the study identifies patterns and tensions within higher education extension programs and offers an emergent theoretical framework, demonstrating how academic institutions can serve as genuine, transformative partners in community development.

This international recognition not only highlights the scholarly merit and social relevance of Dr. Angco’s work but also reflects the growing research culture within the CTU-Main College of Arts and Sciences. His achievement exemplifies how research, when pursued with rigor and responsibility, becomes an act of meaningful service to society.

A research paper co-authored by 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗔. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗮, Public Relations Director of the Future Scientists and Technology Leaders of the Philippines CTU Main, together with 𝗥𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗠. 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗮, 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗮 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗦. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗦. 𝗣𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗼, has been published in a Scopus‑indexed peer‑reviewed international journal. The scholarly article is titled “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.”

The study examined how motivation mediates the relationship between study habits and mathematics achievement among 1,042 Grade 10 students across five selected secondary schools in Lapu‑Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. Using a descriptive correlational research design, the researchers assessed students’ study habits, motivation levels, and mathematics performance through validated surveys. Findings revealed that students generally possess good study habits—particularly when engaging in collaborative learning with peers—and demonstrate high motivation across most components, except for self‑efficacy, which was rated as moderate. Mathematics achievement was found to be very satisfactory.

Statistical analysis indicated a significant but negligible positive correlation between study habits and mathematics achievement. Importantly, motivation was found to partially mediate the relationship between the two variables, suggesting that while strong study habits contribute to mathematics achievement, motivation enhances this overall effect. The paper underscores the importance of integrating motivation‑enhancing strategies in mathematics education. Schools and teachers are encouraged to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that not only promotes effective study habits but also strengthens students’ confidence and self‑belief, thereby maximizing academic outcomes.

The Poster Presentation segment of the 14th CAS Research Congress and 1st SDG Colloquium showcased a diverse collection of student and faculty research tackling real-world issues across science, environment, health, technology, psychology, education, and social development. From ecological conservation and climate change to healthcare, behavioral studies, and data modeling, each study reflected the commitment of researchers to produce meaningful and impactful knowledge aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Organized by the CTUMC-College of Arts and Sciences- Research & Development Officeand co-organized by the Future Science and Technology Leaders of the Philippines CTU-Main Campus, the event served as a platform for innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence among researchers from various disciplines.

The gallery walk became a space for learning, collaboration, and academic exchange as presenters shared their studies with participants, guests, and panel judges who provided critiques, insights, and recommendations to further strengthen the quality of the research. Through every poster displayed, the event highlighted the passion, innovation, and dedication of researchers in addressing contemporary challenges through evidence-based inquiry.

More than a presentation of findings, the poster session celebrated the growing culture of research excellence within the College of Arts and Sciences—where ideas are explored, voices are heard, and research continues to inspire positive change beyond the university.

Anchored on the theme, “𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚, 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖: 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨,” the event gathered passionate student and faculty researchers committed to creating knowledge that responds to real-world challenges and contributes to sustainable development.

Organized by the CTUMC-College of Arts and Sciences- Research & Development Office and co-organized by the Future Science and Technology Leaders of the Philippines CTU-Main Campus, the event highlighted the innovative research and scholarly contributions of students and faculty across various disciplines, strengthening the culture of collaboration, inquiry, and academic excellence.

Held on May 13, 2026, at the Centennial Building, CTU–Main Campus, the congress opened with inspiring messages from university leaders and researchers. Despite the absence of the CTU Choristers and technical difficulties encountered in Hall A, the event continued successfully as activities were transferred to Halls B and C—demonstrating the teamwork, resilience, and dedication of everyone involved.

The congress featured diverse research presentations from the fields of Development Communication, English Language Studies, Literary Studies, Filipino, Mathematics, Biology, Psychology, Nursing, and Statistics. Through podium presentations, poster exhibits, gallery walks, and faculty research dissemination, participants were given the opportunity to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives, and showcase studies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each presentation reflected the growing commitment of the College of Arts and Sciences to research that extends beyond academics and creates meaningful impact within communities and society.

As the event concluded with recognitions, awards, and shared moments of celebration, the 14th CAS Research Congress and 1st SDG Colloquium became a reminder that research thrives where passion, collaboration, and purpose meet. With one college and one agenda, the College of Arts and Sciences continues to strengthen a culture of research that informs, empowers, and inspires change for a more sustainable future.

What happens when research, collaboration, and sustainability come together under one agenda?

Anchored on the theme “𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮,” the 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗔𝗦 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘂𝗺 will be held on 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, from 𝟴:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 𝘁𝗼 𝟱:𝟬𝟬 𝗣𝗠 at 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗔, 𝗕, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖, 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗧𝗨–𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀.

By bringing together student and faculty researchers across various disciplines, the congress serves as a platform to present studies aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and research with societal relevance. This gathering fosters critical inquiry, evidence-based problem solving, and meaningful academic discourse, strengthening the integration of SDG frameworks into research to ensure that scholarly outputs contribute to global development priorities and create impact beyond the university.

Presenting the researchers and innovators of the 14𝙩𝙝 𝘾𝘼𝙎 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 1𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝘿𝙂 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙚𝙗𝙪 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮.

From the 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨, undergraduate students and faculty members will share their scholarly work through podium presentations, poster sessions, and faculty dissemination talks. These presentations reflect careful inquiry, academic rigor, and meaningful engagement with current issues across various fields of study.

Their research contributions demonstrate a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the advancement of knowledge in support of sustainable development goals. Each study offers insights that contribute to both academic growth and practical understanding of real-world concerns.

Behind every story of success and every dream realized, there is often the steady hand and unwavering heart of a mother.

Today, we celebrate the women who nurture not just their own children, but also the ideas and movements that make our world more equitable and kind. To the mothers who show up every day, even when it’s hard. To the single moms doing the work of two. To the grandmothers, aunties, and chosen mums who step in and nurture so much love. To the pet mums and the foster and adoptive moms. To those holding space for loss, and those still holding onto the hope of becoming a mom one day.
