AFTER THE SHIVERS, THE SHIMMERS: BMALV LIGHTS CHRISTMAS 2025
Weeks ago, Bright Minds In Action Learning Village Daanbantayan Campus stood quietโits halls dim, its rooms empty, its usual spark missing. After the earthquakes, after the power interruptions, after the storms that pushed students back into their homes for safety, the campus felt like it was wrapped in shadows. The laughter disappeared. The footsteps faded.
And for a moment, it felt as though the heart of BMALV paused with the rest of Daanbantayan.
But BMALV has always been more than walls and classrooms.
And earlier, in the evening of December 10, 2025, the campus proved exactly that as it lit up once againโbrighter, louder, and more hopeful than ever. The long-awaited Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony became not just an annual tradition, but a powerful reminder that even when light leaves for a while, it always finds its way back.
For weeks, the faculty and staff, GPTA, and students worked tirelessly to build this yearโs Christmas tree. It was crafted not just from materials, but from shared effortโlate afternoons of decorating, borrowed time, and the unspoken desire to restore what the community had lost during the days of darkness. Every ornament, every detail, carried the fingerprints of the BMALV family.
The ceremony opened with the warm guidance of hosts Ms. Vanissa Pejana and Ms. Mary Rose Compuesto, grounding the event in familiarity. Ms. Cerelin Ybaรฑez led a heartfelt prayer, lifting the community in gratitude and hope. GPTA President Ms. Cecille Rosell followed with meaningful opening remarks, reminding everyone why gatherings like this matterโbecause unity is the most precious gift a community can hold.
Before the main event, the crowd was moved by a beautifully staged Live Belรฉnโa solemn reenactment of the Birth of Jesus by selected students from the Elementary Level. Their performance, simple yet sincere, brought the crowd into a moment of quiet reflection. In the dimming afternoon light, with parents and teachers watching, the story of hope and faith felt more real than ever.
Then came the moment no one wanted to miss.
School Administrator Sir Antolin Villegas, Principal Dr. Hazelita Malaga, and GPTA President Ms. Cecille Rosell stepped forward to lead the lighting. As the switch was pressed, the Christmas tree burst into lightโgolden, warm, and alive. Cheers erupted. Smiles returned. And for the first time in many weeks, the campus felt like home again.
Parents, teachers, faculty, staff, students, and even the KANDAYAN-ONS from the nearby streets joined in the celebration. What once were silent spaces now echoed with laughter and music, proving that despite everythingโearthquakes, typhoons, fear, uncertaintyโDaanbantayanโs spirit remains unbroken.
Tonightโs celebration was more than a program. It was a healing.
A reminder that even when darkness comes, communities like BMALV do not crumbleโthey rebuild. They return. They rise. And most importantly, they celebrate with the people who matter most.
Because Christmas is not canceled by calamities. It lives in the hearts of people who choose to hope.
And here, at BMALV DB Campus, surrounded by family, faith, and the warmth of togetherness, the light of Christmas shines againโsteadfast, comforting, and brighter than it has ever been.
