USC STUDENT WINS CESAFI BANGGA SA BALAK
A 22-year-old undergraduate student from the University of San Carlos (USC) was named the champion of the 2023 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc (Cesafi) Bangga sa Balak competition on Friday, May 12, 2023.
Ben Cafe, a media communications student, won the first prize with his winning entry “Sama sa mga Bitoon sa Kalangitan” for the inter-school poetry competition with the theme of “Pagsakmit sa Dekaledad nga Edukasyon nga Abli sa Tanan.”
The competition was held at the UP Performing Arts Hall, where Cafe's entry emerged victorious over the entries from seven other participating collegiate institutions.
Cafe's piece was inspired by the life and works of late President Carlos P. Garcia.
"I first heard him with his poem 'Dalagang Pilipinhon,' and knowing his background of teaching and education, it may have subconsciously tapped into my writing," Cafe said. | via EHP (Photo by Kaiser Castañares)
