LOOK | BETU-CTU partnership delivers first major onsite academic collaboration with 11 student presenters in Vietnam

Barely eight months after formalizing the partnership, Cebu Technological University (CTU) and Binh Duong Economics and Technology University (BETU), Vietnam, are showing the first mileage, as the alliance sends 11 student researchers to the bespoke platform.

Their papers span education, digital communication, artificial intelligence, tourism, hospitality, environmental science, agriculture, public health, and other interdisciplinary fields, reflecting CTU's robust undergraduate research ecosystem.

Headlining CTU's participation is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Collin Garrido who has been fully funded by BETU for his speakership at the event, as well as a lectureship on the 10th.

Alongside Dr. Garrido are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angen Mae Charcos and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adelliosa Menchavez, who are both attending the conference and lecturing at the same time.

The delegation from Argao, Barili, Carmen, Danao, Daanbantayan and Tuburan departed Cebu at 1:00 a.m. today for Ho Chi Minh. The 2-day schedule is tight for a series of lectures and a conference on the 10th and 11th, respectively, before the group heads home on the 12th.

CTU is underwriting the students’ airfare, while BETU is providing host support through accommodation, meals, local transportation, and other in-country arrangements.

The shared funding model reflects the institutions' collective resolve to move beyond signed agreements toward enduring collaboration in research, mobility, and academic exchange.

Carmen students’ presence at the event speaks to the campus administrators’ commitment to global identitarianism through research, as Kyxin Carl Mahilum and Jethrel Bolhot have constituted the second batch of outbound academic mobility participants next to the faculty members sent to India and New York since January of this year.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | CTU Carmen Hospitality Management Interns Embark on International Internship at Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui

Three Hospitality Management students from Cebu Technological University (CTU) Carmen Campus have officially embarked on their six-month international internship at Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui, reaffirming the university's commitment to producing globally competitive hospitality professionals.

Faye Marielle Bacalla, Lucy Marie Canoy, and Maria Carmela Velasco officially began their overseas training on July 9, 2026, and will complete their internship on January 4, 2027, as part of the hotel's Rooms Division under the Housekeeping Department. They are the first three students from the campus' third batch of international interns to depart for Hong Kong, with four more students from the same batch expected to follow, bringing the total to seven interns deployed to Hong Kong.

The international internship provides the students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of Hong Kong's premier hospitality establishments, allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge in a global setting while strengthening their technical expertise, intercultural competence, and professional skills. Their deployment continues CTU Carmen's growing international internship program, following the successful deployment of Batch 1, which sent two students to Hong Kong and three to Thailand, and Batch 2, which deployed four students each to Hong Kong and Thailand. The initiative reflects the university's continued dedication to providing transformative learning experiences that prepare future hospitality professionals to thrive in the global tourism and hospitality industry.

"COT Capacity Building 2026"

The College of Technology successfully conducted a three-day Faculty Development Activity for the Hospitality Management and Industrial Technology faculty members. The program commenced with meaningful conversations and reflective engagements designed to strengthen the well-being, camaraderie, and sense of purpose of every participant. Through the insightful session of Dr. Bonifacio M. Amper Jr., entitled *"Recharge and Reconnect: Rediscovering Purpose Through Shared Experiences,"* faculty members were paired to foster empathy, attentiveness, and mutual support throughout the duration of the activity. Participants were also tasked to create and wear a cap or hat that symbolized their aspirations and values, and they were encouraged to relate its meaning to the organization's vision and the achievement of shared goals.

In the afternoon, Dr. Amper facilitated a series of experiential activities that challenged participants physically, mentally, and emotionally. Faculty members enthusiastically took part in activities such as zip-lining, wall climbing, rappelling, and maze challenges. These activities highlighted the importance of trust, teamwork, courage, and perseverance while providing opportunities for participants to step outside their comfort zones and strengthen their connections with one another.

The succeeding sessions continued to empower participants by equipping them with practical strategies for navigating the demands and challenges of the academic environment. Through the guidance of Dr. Jay C. Amistoso in his session, *"Reimagine and Adapt: Building Resilience Through Play, Collaboration, and Creativity,"* faculty members explored innovative approaches to resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving through engaging and experiential learning activities. The faculty development program served not only as a venue for professional growth but also as a reminder that adaptability, creativity, and meaningful interpersonal relationships are essential in cultivating a positive and thriving educational community. The third and final day was devoted to leisure activities, fellowship, and the awarding of certificates in recognition of the participants' active involvement and commitment to continuous growth and excellence.
