If you plan to work in Japan, one of the Magic phrase you often hear is "𝐎𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐮". 🪄

You hear it everywhere: at work, on the phone, between friends and family, as a greeting, after something is done (alone or together), and even as a goodbye.

How magical! ✨ But what does it mean? 🤔

“𝐎𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐚” - “𝒕𝒔𝒖𝒌𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒓𝒖” (疲れる) in plain form, means “𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅.” 😮‍💨

"𝙤𝒕𝙨𝒖𝙠𝒂𝙧𝒆𝙨𝒂𝙢𝒂 𝒅𝙚𝒔𝙪" (Present tense)
“𝒐𝙩𝒔𝙪𝒌𝙖𝒓𝙚𝒔𝙖𝒎𝙖 𝙙𝒆𝙨𝒉𝙞𝒕𝙖” / “you are tired.” (Past tense)

How to Use This Phase?
1. 𝐀𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - acknowledging each other’s hard work.
2. 𝐀𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 - time and effort are recognized and appreciated (as part of teamwork or as an invididual).
3. 𝐀𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 - to show each other's support and appreciation of someone’s hardship.
