The two-day training brought together faculty members, researchers, and technology transfer personnel from various CTU campuses to enhance institutional capabilities in intellectual property valuation and the preparation of fairness opinions, which are essential components of the commercialization of research outputs and technologies.
The activity was implemented through the CTU IPTBM initiative under the RAISE Program funded by the Department of Science and Technology โ Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOSTโPCAARRD). The event was also conducted in partnership with the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), further strengthening collaboration between national research institutions and higher education institutions in promoting innovation and technology management.

The lecture sessions on Intellectual Property Valuation were facilitated by ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐. ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐จ๐ซ of ๐ป๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ฆ, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ถ๐๐ก๐ฆ, ๐ต๐โ๐๐. Dr. Virador discussed the fundamental concepts and methodologies of IP valuation, including the income, cost, and market approaches, which are widely used to determine the economic value of technologies and intellectual assets. Participants also engaged in hands-on workshops where they applied these valuation approaches in simulated scenarios and presented their outputs.

These incubatees engaged in discussions and collaboration with CTU inventors whose innovations are on track for technology transfer and eventual commercialization. Both completed the rigorous two-part training and presented their respective IP valuation reports, demonstrating CTUโs commitment to strengthening intellectual property management and advancing agri-aqua technology commercialization in the region.
A total of 57 participants graduated from the program, which was conducted in two phasesโfirst in July at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Iloilo City, and concluded this August at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), La Union. The training was designed to build the capacity of regional innovators and technology managers in valuing intellectual property assets, a vital step in bridging research outputs to market opportunities. Aside from CTU, other state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Central Visayas also successfully completed the training, further strengthening the regionโs pool of IP valuation and commercialization champions.
The 10-day training was facilitated by Ms. Mary Jade Roxas-Divinagracia, Managing Partner for Deals and Corporate Finance at PwC Philippinesโ Isla Lipana & Co., who provided participants with comprehensive knowledge, practical tools, and methodologies on IP valuation and commercialization strategies.

This engagement was initiated and organized by CTU's ATBI-IPTBM team, composed of Dr. Mario P. Rebucas Jr., Engr. Naomi A. Bajao, Mr. Jessie Cole, and Ms. Sheila Mae C. Edoloverio, in close coordination with CTU Faculty Technology Generators Dr. Francis Dindo G. De Lara and Dr. Receil Ann T. Cullano.
This initiative is part of CTUโs Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation (ATBI) Program, under the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) program in Central Visayas. The ATBI program empowers startups through mentorship, resource access, and commercialization support, fostering sustainable agri-aqua ventures.

Engr. Naomi A. Bajao, Project Staff III of the Cebu Technological UniversityโIntellectual Property and Technology Business Management (CTU IPTBM), presented the valuation report of her technology, โOptimized Coco Peat Blocks,โ during the second session of the National Intellectual Property (IP) Valuation Training โ Batch 2 under the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program, held on August 11โ15, 2025, at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, La Union.
The Optimized Coco Peat Blocks are premium, sterilized, and pH-balanced growing substrates designed for hydroponics, horticulture, and sustainable packaging solutions. Developed from coconut husks and byproducts of copra production, the technology offers a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative to conventional growing materials. By converting agricultural waste into high-value products, the innovation addresses sustainability challenges while aligning with the growing global demand for green agricultural inputs.
This milestone underscores CTU IPTBMโs commitment to advancing technology transfer, promoting sustainability-driven innovations, and strengthening the commercialization potential of locally developed technologies.

(APP), proudly holds the graduation ceremony for the participants of the two-part National Intellectual Property (IP) Valuation Training for the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program Batch 2 on August 15, 2025 at Patio by Balai Norte, San Juan, La Union.
A total of 57 participants completed the IP valuation training conducted last July in Iloilo City and this August in La Union, hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), respectively.

CTU RATBI and IPTBM Join National Effort to Boost Technology Commercialization Expertise at Valuation Training โ First Session
Dr. Adrian P. Ybaรฑez and Engr. Naomi A. Bajao represented CTU in the first session of the National Valuation Training for the RAISE Program โ Batch 2 held in Iloilo City from July 14โ18, 2025.
The week-long training equipped participants with practical skills in technology valuationโfrom understanding intellectual property to applying cost, market, and income methodsโstrengthening the path from innovation to commercialization.
