Shaping Futures by Strengthening Pathways πŸ’šπŸ’›

At the University of San Jose–Recoletos Senior High School Department, every learner begins a journey shaped by passion and guided by formation.

Every learner is guided through meaningful academic experiences designed to build readiness for college, career, and life. Here, growth is intentional, flexible, and rooted in values that last beyond the classroom.

Anchored on the Josenian Core Values and guided by the Augustinian-Recollect education, we form individuals who are not only academically equipped, but also disciplined, values-driven, and future-ready.

With clearly defined Academic Tracks and specialized pathways within each, learners are given clear direction, confidence, and a strong foundation to prepare for their chosen future.

Kudos to our Grade 12 ABM students, Julianne Careshane Taping and Lady Xyzah Belandres for placing 1st runner-up in the USC Accounting Scholastic Cup 2026 held last March 13 at USC-Talamban Campus.

Adelante, future accountants!

#𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 | SHS ABM duo bets 1st runner-up in ASC β€˜26

CEBU CITY, Philippinesβ€”Two Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) student representatives from the University of San Jose-Recoletos Senior High School (USJ-R SHS) Department clinched 1st runner-up in the University of San Carlos (USC) Accounting Scholastic Cup (ASC) 2026 at the USC Talamban Campus, March 13.

The accountancy tag team, composed of Julianne Careshane Taping of Grade 12-St. Boniface and Lady Xyzah Belandres of Grade 12-St. Liberatus competed against 10 Cebuano schools in a one-round quiz bowl format under the guidance of ABM & TVL Cluster teacher, Irene Villaver.

Taping felt determined to end her SHS run on a high note knowing it would be her last year in the department.

β€œI just focused on having fun because it’s my last one for senior high school. But of course, since it’s my last, I also wanted to end it with flying colors,” she said.

She also admitted they had minimal preparation, reviewing only on the morning of with her partner, preoccupied with graduation demands.

β€œWe actually didn’t have that much preparation because my partner and I were both very busy with a lot of events and graduation preparations. [In fact], our review session was just on the morning of the ASC itself,” she added.

Meanwhile, Belandres recalled a moment when they were initially announced for a different placement due to a name mix-up.

β€œWhen the second runner-up was announced, the host accidentally called our team, Debit & Credit, instead of Debit & Distress. We [even] stood up thinking we had won that placement.”

β€œThankfully, we were later called back on stage as the competition’s first runner-up,” she recounted.

USJ-R SHS last participated in the ASC two years ago, marking this feat a comeback to the scholastic cup.

Congratulations to our G12 ABM-Marketing/Mgt. students for successfully organizing the Double Wedding for a Cause event! This authentic performance task is more than just a requirement in their Events Management Services NC III subject, but it is their gift to the community. By pouring their hearts out into this event, their compassion and creativity truly shone through. This is indeed learning beyond the four corners of the classroom.

Special thanks to their dedicated mentor Mr. Mark Anthony Satur for initiating this event and for his invaluable guidance to the students from start to finish. Thanks as well to our external sponsors for your generosity; and to the parents, school administrators, SHS teachers and to everyone who in one way or another have contributed to the success of this memorable event.πŸ₯°πŸ’š

Thank you to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes for accommodating us and collaborating with us. And above all, our greatest praise and honor goes to God Almighty, for without Him, nothing is possible.πŸ™πŸ»

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to our Semi-Finalists! πŸŽ‰

We proudly celebrate the outstanding achievement of our studentsβ€”G12 TVL-HTM students, Junellah Martha Antipuesto and Francheiska Claire Arrojado of Team Powerpuff Girls, and G12 ABM students, Julianne Careshane N. Taping and Elaine Virjel A. Onting of Team Girls U9th, along with their teammates from Japan and Singapore β€”for advancing to the Top 12 in the JA Travel & Tourism Business Competition 2025!

This prestigious annual event, organized by Junior Achievement (JA) Japan with support from Accenture and Bloomberg, virtually brings together teams of six from four different countries to design a unique and sustainable travel plan that showcases Japan’s charm to Asian tourists. Out of 30 participating teams, our students have earned a coveted spot in the semi-finals this January 2026. From there, only six teams will move on to the grand finals in March 2026, where the winning team will be awarded an all-expense-paid study tour to Japan! πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅βœ¨

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to their dedicated mentors, Mrs. Angelina Otom and Mrs. Jennilyn Lanojan, for their unwavering guidance and support throughout this journey. Your mentorship continues to shape global-ready leaders.
