Kudos to our Grade 12 ABM students, Julianne Careshane Taping and Lady Xyzah Belandres for placing 1st runner-up in the USC Accounting Scholastic Cup 2026 held last March 13 at USC-Talamban Campus.
Adelante, future accountants!
#ππ«ππ¦π’ππ«πππ°π¬ | SHS ABM duo bets 1st runner-up in ASC β26
CEBU CITY, PhilippinesβTwo Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) student representatives from the University of San Jose-Recoletos Senior High School (USJ-R SHS) Department clinched 1st runner-up in the University of San Carlos (USC) Accounting Scholastic Cup (ASC) 2026 at the USC Talamban Campus, March 13.
The accountancy tag team, composed of Julianne Careshane Taping of Grade 12-St. Boniface and Lady Xyzah Belandres of Grade 12-St. Liberatus competed against 10 Cebuano schools in a one-round quiz bowl format under the guidance of ABM & TVL Cluster teacher, Irene Villaver.
Taping felt determined to end her SHS run on a high note knowing it would be her last year in the department.
βI just focused on having fun because itβs my last one for senior high school. But of course, since itβs my last, I also wanted to end it with flying colors,β she said.
She also admitted they had minimal preparation, reviewing only on the morning of with her partner, preoccupied with graduation demands.
βWe actually didnβt have that much preparation because my partner and I were both very busy with a lot of events and graduation preparations. [In fact], our review session was just on the morning of the ASC itself,β she added.
Meanwhile, Belandres recalled a moment when they were initially announced for a different placement due to a name mix-up.
βWhen the second runner-up was announced, the host accidentally called our team, Debit & Credit, instead of Debit & Distress. We [even] stood up thinking we had won that placement.β
βThankfully, we were later called back on stage as the competitionβs first runner-up,β she recounted.
USJ-R SHS last participated in the ASC two years ago, marking this feat a comeback to the scholastic cup.
