Out of numerous brilliant minds across the region, they are ready to step onto the international stage and showcase their innovative business concepts and entrepreneurial skills. The Visionary sets forth in JA APAC FedEx ITC 2026

CEBU CITY, Philippines—A special delivery is headed to Singapore as Minette Cabaluna and Jim Niño Gonzales, team The Visionary of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Senior High School (USJ-R SHS) Department, secured a Top 3 spot in the JA Asia-Pacific (APAC) FedEx International Trade Challenge (ITC) 2026.

The Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) Josenians will represent the Philippines alongside ArkSight of Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School and TeamMate of Everest International Academy after emerging among the country’s top teams.

Their winning entry, Chuồn Chuồn (Vietnamese for “dragonfly”), is a drone service application equipped with an AI chatbot, Chuồn2Bot, that simplifies drone management, warehouse monitoring, and inventory tracking through a conversational interface.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

Cabaluna revealed that developing a feasible business solution while balancing academics required countless hours of teamwork, revisions, and sacrifices beyond the classroom.

“Imagine, out of hundreds of capable schools across the Philippines who submitted, we qualified in the Top 3,” she said.

She added that her pair complemented each other’s strengths throughout the contest, with Gonzales leading the creative process while she ensured the technical aspects.

𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲

Gonzales admitted that their journey was marked by moments of exhaustion and uncertainty, but the duo remained committed to their goal despite the setbacks.

“Always enjoy the process, yet also have a standard,” he shared, constantly reminding themselves of their motto.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Gonzales emphasized that it allows them to put into action the qualities that brought them this far.

“We want to show how we can also be creative, resilient, collaborative, and capable of competing with the best in the world.”

The achievement continues USJ-R’s three-year run of advancing to the international round.

The JA APAC FedEx International Trade Challenge gathers student representatives from different countries to develop and present innovative business solutions through global collaboration.
