Princeton Assessments and Training Inc. Joins the 6th IEC2025 Research Conference in Bacolod City

Princeton Assessments and Training Inc., the sole provider of TOEIC® assessments in the Philippines, proudly took part in the 6th IEC2025 Research Conference held on November 22 at STI West Negros University, Bacolod City.

With the conference theme, “Strategies for Educational Excellence: Uniting Educators for Innovative Solutions,” the event brought together educators, researchers, and academic leaders committed to raising the standards of education in the country.

One of the key highlights of the conference was the plenary session led by Mr. Rex Wallen Tan, Consultant of Princeton Assessments and Training Inc., who was invited as a plenary speaker. Mr. Tan delivered an insightful talk on “CEFR and TOEIC”, emphasizing how internationally recognized standards and assessments can guide institutions in designing more effective language curricula and outcome-based programs.

CEFR and TOEIC: Aligning Classrooms with Global Standards

In his plenary, Mr. Tan discussed how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) serves as a powerful framework for describing language proficiency in a clear and standardized way. He highlighted how TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication) aligns with CEFR levels, allowing schools to:

*Benchmark students’ English proficiency against global standards
*Set realistic, measurable learning outcomes
*Use objective data to inform curriculum development and instructional strategies
*Support students’ readiness for international opportunities and professional advancement

By connecting CEFR levels with TOEIC score ranges, Mr. Tan illustrated how institutions can better track students’ progress and ensure that language programs are not only academically sound but also relevant to real-world communication and employment needs.
