It is difficult to earn the trust of our elders, especially those from the 𝘥𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢 circles. That is why it is a profound honor for this page to have earned the trust of the Villareal family. ❤️🙏

Naniniwala ang pahinang ito at patuloy na pinapatunayan ng ating mga 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 na napakarami pang natatagong yaman at heritage sa loob ng mga tahanan ng mga antigong pamilyang Chabacano Caviteño. Ang mga kasaysayang ito ang tunay na nagpapatibay sa ating pagkakakilanlan.

Muchas gracias to the Villareal family for sharing this heritage goldmine of a video. It is a rare glimpse into the past: a heartfelt performance of "Tindera de Tinapa" recorded in 1999 in San Diego, California. The performance features Lola Guiging (Milagros Ordonez Villareal, wife of Rosario) and Lola Ting (Libertad Pimentel Villareal, wife of Rodolfo), with the daughter of Rodolfo and Libertad, Daisy Villareal, serving as the emcee for the celebration of Lola Guiging’s birthday.

Ang pag-awit ng "Tindera de Tinapa" ay may napakalalim na kahulugan. Hindi lang ito basta pagtatanghal. Ito ay pagpupugay sa ating coastal food heritage at sa makulay na tradisyon ng pagpoproseso at pagtitinda ng isda na bumuhay at nagpakain sa maraming henerasyon ng mga Caviteño. 🐟

Ang ganitong uri ng tiwala ay hindi natin binabalewala. It is a reminder of why we do what we do to ensure that these stories are not lost, but documented, respected, and shared with the pride they deserve. Dr. Eeva Sippola is a world-renowned linguist and Professor from the University of Helsinki! A true ally of our heritage, Dr. Sippola has dedicated years to the deep documentation and structural study of Philippine Chabacano varieties including her landmark grammar on Ternateño. Her work beautifully bridges global academic research with grassroots community preservation, reminding us of the urgent need to keep our heirloom languages alive.

Preservation through education is a core pillar of our "Five Hearts, One Heritage" advocacy. Today, we are shining a well-deserved spotlight on Ms. Georgina Tisbe for her immense contribution to our community!

With a huge heart for cultural preservation, she has been hard at work creating original Chabacano music and adapting well-loved nursery rhymes into Chabacano to make learning fun for our kids. We even created a zine dedicated entirely to her translation works. High-five to this incredible dedication! 🙌

Hopefully soon, these very songs will resonate in every daycare and classroom in the city, introducing Chabacano to our little children right at the start of their journey. Let’s bring our language back, one melody at a time. 🌊❤️

Opisyal nang kabilang ang Pilipinas sa Intergovernmental Committee ng UNESCO para sa Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)! Isang napakahalagang tagumpay ito na nagpapaalala sa atin kung bakit patuloy ang laban para sa kultura ng ating mahal na ciudad sa antas ng komunidad lalo na ang Chabacano Caviteño na bigkis ng lahat ng ito.

​Ang upuang ito ay isang hamon na patuloy tayong makinig, magdokumento, at igalang ang legasiya ng ating mga nakatatanda. Walang bibitiw sa laban para sa preserbasyon ng wika at kultura dahil ito ang kaluluwa ng ating pagkakakilanlan.

​𝘝𝘪ñ𝘢 𝘺𝘢! Magpatuloy tayo sa paghabi ng ating kinabukasan gamit ang wika ng ating nakaraan.

The Philippines has been elected as one of four new Asia-Pacific members of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (IGH-ICH), securing 106 votes or 68% of the 156 valid votes cast by UNESCO member states.

The IGC-ICH is the committee responsible for providing guidance on best practices and making recommendations on safeguarding cultural expressions, indigenous knowledge and traditional practices. | via Joseph Morong/GMA News
