What are the standards and core principles of Arnis Eskrima De Cavite?
Arnis Eskrima De Cavite (AEDC) was founded by Grand Master Henry F. Cerilla Sr., when he first began teaching the art of Arnis in Cavite City. Early on, GM Cerilla emphasized the fundamental difference between Arnis as a traditional martial art and Arnis as a modern sport.
As time passed, AEDC students learned to navigate competitive spaces while remaining grounded in the authentic concepts and mechanics of combat martial arts. Balancing both worlds presented a unique challenge, as sports competition demands distinct physical adaptations—especially in Anyo (forms) ex*****on.
Over time, AEDC successfully adapted modern techniques for competitive play without compromising their core foundations. This dual approach paved the way for greater sports success, ultimately earning their practitioners numerous medals.
At its core, Arnis Eskrima De Cavite stands firmly on three pillars:
Preservation of Classical & Traditional Striking Methods
Arnis as an Effective System of Combat and Self-Defense
Arnis as a Sacred Philippine Fighting Art
Today, this rich legacy is carried forward by GM Cerilla’s dedicated students. By passing these refined teachings on to a new generation of Caviteño athletes and practitioners, AEDC ensures the preservation of its traditional system while continuing to build a strong, resilient foundation for the youth.
Arnis Eskrima De Cavite honors Arnis in all its facets: both as an evolving modern sport and as a ancient, practical, and lethal fighting art of the Filipino people.
