Isabela State University (ISU) President Prof. Boyet L. Batang, PhD, led the universityโ€™s engagement with Hon. Faustino Michael Carlos T. Dy III, representative of Isabelaโ€™s 5th Congressional District, during a courtesy visit, joined by ISU-Cauayan Campus Executive Officer Prof. Marisol S. Foronda, PhD, the campus directors, and Asst. Prof. Cipriano M. Ticman, PhD, Jr., Campus Coordinator of the Aurora Extension Unit, to discuss academic initiatives and potential areas of collaboration, September 18.

The meeting provided a venue for university and campus officials to present key areas of institutional interest and discuss possible partnerships that could support ISUโ€™s academic programs and stakeholders.

Led by Dr. Batang, the delegation engaged Cong. Dy on opportunities for cooperation in higher education and other areas of mutual institutional interest, with discussions focused on initiatives that could respond to the needs of the university.

During the engagement, Cong. Dy also provided immediate assistance for the urgent procurement of chairs for the ISU-Cauayan Campus Aurora Extension Unit, addressing an identified need at the site.

The meeting further strengthened coordination between ISU and public-sector stakeholders, opening avenues for collaboration that can support the universityโ€™s academic priorities and campus development initiatives.

The engagement was also attended by representatives of ISU-Roxas Campus, further reflecting the university-wide participation in the institutional dialogue.

The Isabela State University-Cauayan Campusโ€™ Food Innovation Center (FIC) opened its doors to a benchmarking delegation from Bohol Island State University (BISU) as the Commission on Higher Educationโ€™s Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRDEC) facilitated a knowledge exchange aimed at strengthening research, development, and extension (RDE) systems, September 16.

Led by BISU University Extension Director Lloyd L. Tejano, the delegation engaged with FIC representatives to examine its operational practices, extension initiatives, and strategies for translating institutional expertise into programs that support communities and innovation.

The visit provided BISU faculty and extension personnel with a closer look at how the FIC organizes and delivers its initiatives, offering practices that may inform the universityโ€™s own RDE mechanisms.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Marisol S. Foronda, PhD, Cluster Executive Officer of ISU-Cauayan, further widening the exchange beyond the FICโ€™s technical operations and toward institutional approaches to research, extension, and innovation.

Through initiatives such as the benchmarking visit, ISU-Cauayanโ€™s FIC contributes to a broader network of state universities that share practices, adapt innovations, and build stronger RDE systems across regions.

Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus strengthens its presence in national legal education as Atty. Randolph Joseph Arreola, a faculty member of the ISU Cauayan College of Law, assumes a seat as Commissioner of the Legal Education Board (LEB), representing the ranks of active law practitioners, September 15.

Arreolaโ€™s appointment brings the experience of an active legal practitioner and law educator into the national body tasked with overseeing and advancing legal education in the Philippines. His new role positions him to contribute to policy discussions and initiatives shaping the development of law schools, legal education standards, and the preparation of future members of the legal profession.

For ISU-Cauayan, the appointment extends beyond an individual distinction. It places a member of its College of Law faculty in a national institution at a time when legal education continues to evolve in response to the changing demands of the profession and the justice system.

As a faculty member of ISU-Cauayanโ€™s College of Law, Arreola brings his professional experience into the classroom while now carrying that perspective into a broader arena of legal education governance.
