The College of Computing Studies Information and Communication Technology - Student Body Organization (SBO) proudly joins the celebration of ASEAN Day 2026, honoring the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on August 8, 1967, through the Bangkok Declaration.

This day reminds us of the importance of unity, cooperation, and shared progress among Southeast Asian nations. Despite our diverse cultures and traditions, ASEAN continues to stand together in promoting peace, innovation, education, and sustainable development.

Let us celebrate the ASEAN spirit of “One Vision, One Identity, One Community” and continue building stronger connections for a better future.

A free campus press is not a privilege handed down. It is a space students have the right to occupy.

Every headline carries a question. Every article leaves a record. Every story creates room for students to understand the institutions, decisions, and realities that shape their lives.

This National Campus Press Freedom Day, we recognize campus journalism not simply as an extracurricular pursuit, but as a public trust within the academic community.

Student journalists are tasked to look closer when others look away, to ask when silence feels more convenient, and to place verified truth where rumor, fear, or indifference might otherwise take its place.

Freedom of the campus press matters because students deserve more than information filtered for comfort. They deserve journalism that is critical, ethical, independent, and unafraid to make space for difficult conversations.

Today is not only a celebration of those who publish.

It is a reminder of why they must remain free to do so.
