Guided by the School’s Philosophy, Vision and Mission, the Counseling and Guidance Services Center is committed to enhance and uplift the affect, social, moral and spiritual development of every Pillarican. The Counseling and Guidance Services Center is committed to:
Device efficient and effective programs for the clients’ continuous self-awareness towards maximum self-competence thereby; enabling them to contribute their share in the society;
Cultivate Pillarican values through sense of responsibility and accountability;
Develop and maintain harmonious home-school relationship and coordination with the administration, faculty and other offices for the development of the clients;
Assist in the continuing personal and professional development of the CGSC personnel to attain well-balanced personality;
Link with other organization with comparable guidance vision and mission. SERVICES
Appraisal and Inventory Service
This service is designed to synthesize all reliable data and information about the individual student which will be used to gain an understanding of what the students are capable of becoming.
1. INDIVIDUAL INVENTORY (Student’s Personal Information Data)
Objectives:
To gather personal information about the students for future reference;
To file an updated information which will be used to aid them on the process of self-knowledge and self-realization. General Information It refers to the personal information of the students. It includes student’s name, date of birth, age, s*x, civil status, height, guardian and others.
2. Family Background It refers to the name of the parents, their occupation, educational attainment, number of siblings, dialects spoken in the family, etc. Interest It includes the students hobbies, sports, abilities, membership to clubs and organization.
4. Achievement It pertains to the scholastic record such as subject taken, honors received, school last attended and rank.
5. Personal-Social Adjustments It refers to the student’s personal and social relationship with his peers, friends and parents. Activities to be undertaken are:
Coordinate with the different teachers/professors for the accomplishment of the student information sheet. Gather student data by using the guidance tools and techniques. Tools and techniques to be used in gathering data in the Individual Inventory Service are:

2. ADMISSION AND TESTING SERVICE
Objectives:
To identify the student’s strength and weaknesses in order to give corrective measure for guidance and counseling services;
To determines some specific indications of attitudes, conflicts, frustration and tensions;
To identify the student’s present achievement as basis on effective motivation. The activities to be undertaken are:
Establish and implement admission policies. Appraisal of entry requirement. Administer individual and group tests. Analyze and interpret tests results. Conduct research using test results. Information Service
This service provides progressive personal growth and development skills, talents, habits and values which are not ordinarily provided through classroom instruction. It includes avenue for information classified as occupational, educational, personal-social.
3. ORIENTATION
Objectives:
To provide avenue for proper dissemination of the school’s ideals;
To inform students of the policies, rules and regulations of the school;
To present the school plant and facilities;
To introduce the administrators, faculty and staff;
To announce the different organizations of the school;
And others related to the students’ handbook. The activities to be undertaken are:
Plan and organize a whole day orientation program. Coordinate with different concerned persons for their talk and speeches. Request for the venue to accommodate all freshmen and transferee students. Request for copies of student handbook to be distributed to the students.
4. GUIDANCE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN and INFORMATION DISSEIMINATION
Objectives:
To gather and disseminate valuable information that would provide sufficient data about educational, social and occupational data to guide their choices and decisions. To facilitate the dissemination of information about the common concern and issues they are undergoing. To organize workshops that would lead the students to better understanding of the self and to empower their self-esteem. Types of Information Services
Design for Wholeness It creates opportunity for self-discovery and acceptance and integration among others
Educational Service It provides information about the training and opportunities including curricular offerings together with the requirements for entrance. Occupational Service It gives information about job opportunities, occupations, including requirements, conditions of work and incentives offered. Activities to be undertaken are:
Disseminate printed materials such as pamphlets and monographs. Organize short course seminars and workshops on life. Conduct career counseling. Established linkages with the different schools for job openings.
5. VOCATIONAL, CAREER GUIDANCE and PLACEMENT
Objectives:
To assist the student in selecting subjects, courses, specializations, in accordance with his ability and interest. To help the student plan her educational career so that he may what is ahead of them. To help students who need job or educational placement. The activities to be undertaken are:
Keeping up-to-date information on courses offered by other schools as well as requirement for entrance and school policies. Keeping up-to-date information on the world on the general characteristics of occupational life. Establish linkages with other schools, agencies, industries and prospective employers of graduates. Holding of Freshmen Career Placement Program. Holding of Career Perspective Program for the graduating students. Counseling Service
This is the heart of the guidance program. This service is a purposive interaction between student and counselor, individually or groups were problems, concerns or difficulties are shared in confidence and where the counselor helps the student manage her/ his own problem using her/ his own resources. Objectives:
To provide appropriate professional help services for students various needs in the areas of academic, social, inter and intra personal relationships. To offer guidance intervention on specific cases of students on voluntary or referrals and follow through the most appropriately the bounds of ethical and legal principles. To provide opportunities for students to devise their plans, make choices and to work toward the fulfillment of their plans. To help students develop their Christian uniqueness, Pillarican identity, his abilities, capacities and potentials. Types of Information Services

Student Enrichment Services
These services are purposive and progressive in nature. These are designed to offer counteractive services to weak students, individually or groups by tapping linkages and other resources. This also offers enrichment and enhancement of potentials for advancing students. Objectives:
To provide appropriate professional help services for students needing adjustment through academic preparedness. To offer guidance intervention in the transition periods of the students. To address common issues of students. To organize modules, seminars and workshops for specific purposes. Types of Students Enrichment Services

Student’s Learning Assistance (Through the Peer Counselors)
Seminar Workshops (Time Management, Maintaining Healthy Relationships, Stress Management, and likes)
Group Dynamics and Processes
Organizations and Offices can also request the CGSC for facilitation of seminar-workshops for Specific purpose e.g., team-building, leadership, and the like. Activities to be undertaken are:
Create a support group to mobilize and stabilize the program. Empower the Peer Counselor for a more purposive and voluntary tutorial and assistance to the younger students especially the freshmen. Devise modules to be prepared for a timely request of activities for enrichment. Train the counselors and other personnel to become speaker and facilitators for group process and group dynamics. Follow-up and Home Visit Service
This service is designed for students while in the school finding out what happen to students who have availed themselves with counseling and to the students who referred particularly the monitoring of behaviors and factors affecting their academic performance. Objectives:
To have an information on failures of students in order to offer further aid and assistance. To maintain contacts with drop-outs in order to secure information concerning their problems and conditions for further aid. To keep track of the mobility of the students through consultations and conferences with the Registrar’s office and the faculty regarding student’s performance academically and behaviorally. To ensure students learning on her/his appropriate behaviors and decisions regarding her/his problem or need. To conduct home visit to the family/s of students with projected academic and behavioral issues. Activities to be undertaken are:
Strengthen the link with the faculty for referral of students with problems in academics and behavior. Encourage teachers to follow-up the services offered to referred students in the CGSC
Establish communication with the parents or guardians for supervision and re-enforcement of services provided to the students. Consultation and Referral Service
This service aims to support and help all students, faculty, professional, administrators, and staffs who wants to refer and consult on how to assist members of the Pillarican community who may be facing difficulties at present. Research and Evaluation Service
This is a service which consists of the conduct of researches on student’s needs, psychological tests results, values, attitudes and the evaluation of the basic guidance services at the end of the school year. The result of Research and evaluation are studied for planning and program development.
