In the quiet and peaceful life that Filipinos enjoy today, sacrifice and the fight against corruption became the price paid for it. Today, we honor the heroes who fought for the freedom of our societyโheroes who did not only sacrifice for the country, but also set aside the peace of their own lives.
They could have lived quietly, but they chose to defend those who had no voice to speak for themselves. They chose to love the Philippines, even with its complicated and painful history of war and struggle. But heroes are not only those who fought with force to defend the Philippines, nor those who used their pens to awaken the minds of the people, nor those who used their intelligence to challenge those who opposed their beliefs.
Heroes are also the ordinary people who continue to fight for their familiesโthe people who tirelessly work for the well-being of their loved ones, and the Filipino citizens who keep fighting despite hardships just to achieve a better future. They may not be known by many, but they are willing to sacrifice for their country, for their families, and for their own well-being.
Sila ang bayani ng ating bayan,
