Camalanda-an National High School (CNHS) proudly received a 3-Star School Award for its outstanding implementation of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program for the School Year 2023โ€“2024 at Natureโ€™s Village Resort, Talisay City on Feb 18.

The recognition highlights the schoolโ€™s strong commitment to promoting a clean, safe, and health-supportive learning environment for its students, teachers, and staff. The 3-Star rating signifies that the school has successfully met the Department of Educationโ€™s standards in providing adequate water supply, functional and gender-responsive sanitation facilities, proper handwashing stations, solid waste management practices, and hygiene education integration in daily school activities.

Through the collective efforts of the school administration, faculty members, learners, parents, and community stakeholders and school principal Sabeniano L. Ulgasan, CNHS strengthened its WinS implementation by ensuring regular facility maintenance, conducting hygiene awareness campaigns, and encouraging student participation in cleanliness drives and environmental programs.

School officials emphasized that achieving the 3-Star status reflects not only compliance with national standards but also the schoolโ€™s culture of shared responsibility and active involvement in sustaining health and sanitation practices. The initiative has significantly contributed to improving studentsโ€™ attendance, health awareness, and overall well-being.

The recognition serves as an inspiration for Camalanda-an NHS to continuously enhance its programs and strive for even higher standards in the coming years. With teamwork and dedication, the school remains committed to fostering a healthy, safe, and child-friendly learning environment for all.

Both Catholic and Christian faith reunited in CNHS. On January 28, a Holy Mass was held once again in CNHS covered court, bringing together students, teachers, and staff in a moment of prayer and reflection. The celebration allowed the school community to pause from their daily activities and come together in faith.

The Mass was presided over by the Rev. Fr. Armando P. Alpas Jr who delivered a meaningful homily during the celebration. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of having an "open heart" and to examine our hearts.

The Holy Mass once again served as a reminder of the importance of faith, unity, and gratitude. It was a meaningful experience that strengthened the bond among members of the school community and inspired everyone to live with compassion and responsibility.

Meanwhile, a workship service for christians was also held. The theme โ€œCommitment to Follow Jesusโ€ was meaningfully shared during the gathering. Anchored in Romans 8:35โ€“39, the message reminded everyone that nothingโ€”neither trials, hardships, nor any circumstance in lifeโ€”can separate us from the love of God that is found in Christ Jesus. This truth calls believers to remain firm and faithful in their commitment to follow Him.

The program was led by Pastor Demsin Gasper, together with Pastor July Agustin, while the main speaker was Pastor Francisco Alipoon from Mountain View Baptist Church. In his message, Pastor Alipoon emphasized the importance of our daily choices in our walk with God. He shared the line, โ€œKung ano ang aton gipanggas, amo mana ang aton anihon,โ€ reminding us that our choices shape our future. When we sow goodness and obedience, God allows blessings to grow in His time.

A special number was rendered by Angel Remegio and Nikkie Bargamento, together with Pastor July Agustin, which added inspiration and depth to the program. As the message ended, Pastor Alipoon left everyone with a powerful and personal question: โ€œAre you saved?โ€โ€”a question that challenged each listener to reflect on their faith and true commitment to following Jesus.

Beyond the existing educational environmental programs in Camalandaan NHS, the grade 8 students took part in a recycled crafts project, showcasing their creativity and eco-awareness, Jan. 23.

Students crafted various items, like bags and vases, using recycled materials such as plastic bottles, cardboard, and paper.

Furthermore, the crafts were displayed at the school's covered court, drawing praises from the judges and teachers from TLE department, specially the TLE coordinator, Melca N. Pareรฑo.

"We created those projects to be role models, and so that not all waste come to a waste" Teacher adviser, Edeles B. Cadalman said.

The event encouraged students to continue exploring eco-friendly initiatives fostering a sense of responsibility towards environment.
