Part 2: School Symposium
On June 19, 2026, at around 1:30 PM, personnel from the police station, together with staff from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) and the Division Nurse, conducted a symposium for Grade 7 to Grade 12 students of Catmon National High School in Brgy. Panalipan, Catmon, Cebu. The activity was part of the Wellness Symposium with the theme, โEmpowering Adolescents: Promoting Mental Health, Responsible Choices, and Safe Communities.โ
The symposium was held to help students learn more about important issues that affect their daily lives.
They discussed about the dangers of drugs. A drug is a substance that can affect a person's mind, body, and energy. Utility drugs are medicines that can be bought in drugstores or prescribed by doctors when used properly. On the other hand, they prohibited drugs such as shabu, ma*****na, and rugby that can harm a person's health and future.
During the discussion, we learned about Republic Act No. 10627, also known as the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013, which protects students from bullying in schools. Bullying can happen in different ways. Physical bullying uses strength to hurt someone, verbal bullying involves insulting or shouting at others, social bullying makes a person feel left out, and cyberbullying uses technology to threaten or embarrass someone. Bullies often seek power and control, causing victims to feel isolated from their friends
While the activity is still going, flyers and information materials were given to the students to help them remember the lessons discussed. The symposium was successful in increasing awareness and encouraging students to contribute to a safer and healthier environment.
And to our fellow student leaders, BKB, SSLG, and YES-O officers, thank you for your hard work, teamwork, and dedication in making this event successful.
As members of Barkada Kontra Bisyo, we continue to promote responsible choices, respect, and a drug-free, bully-free, and safe school environment.
Together, let us build a healthier, kinder, and stronger CNHS community.
