After being wired on Friday morning, the new lightbox sign finally served its purpose by illuminating the shadowy night streets of Mantacida National High School for the first time that evening, Nov 15.

Long before, the former lightbox sign had been damaged by Super Typhoon Odette, leaving the school gate dim and the surroundings with low visibility at night.

Aside from brightening the area, the new lightbox sign also serves as a clear identification marker for the school.

The project cost lesser with the partnership of Mile23 Hardware and Roofing Supplies, making it one of the most recent school projects implemented in 2025.

Earlier projects completed this year include the construction of a 2-cubicle comfort rooms and repairs from the TLE laboratory that shares the same water supply, a roofed activity center, a science laboratory, and transformation of vacant utilities into classrooms.

After the scheduled mass held at MNHS's Activity Center, the Science Laboratory was blessed by Father Alex Nalitan on January 23, 2025. Anointing the four corners of the room, he left it blessed for the students to use, hoping that the Holy Spirit would guide them in the future sessions to be conducted in the laboratory. The divine blessings were accompanied by the teachers of the school and the Lay Liturgical Minister throughout the prayer.

It has been a week since the Science Lab and its equipment were prepared and set to be used; only the Sacramental Blessing was awaited before endorsing the laboratory to classes. The science lab is equipped with diagrams, models, and glassware such as beakers, as well as personal protective equipment like lab coats and goggles to ensure safe experiments in the laboratory.

The school's Science Coordinator, Mrs. Encinas, is ecstatic about the blessing of the lab, marking the day for it to function and serve the students as a place of inquiry and curiosity.

Silence echoed in a windy morning as Mantacida National High School concluded the Rosary Month with a meaningful Living Rosary, October 31, in the morning.

For the month of October, it has been the daily routine of the teachers and learners to recite the Holy Rosary every day before the flag raising ceremony. To conclude the rosary month students were gathered to form a Living Rosary where each mystery was divided by the grade levels from 7-12. Students were oriented beforehand in order for the rosary to flow smoothly. However, some were late, and some positions were vacant. Headed by our Principal Mrs. Alo, together with the teachers filled in the gaps in order for the rosary to start.

Students and teachers in their uniforms carrying candles symbolized purity and showcased the students' devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The activity highlighted the importance of prayer in the lives of young people, especially now in the time of calamities.

MNHS hopes to continue this tradition in the years to come, inspiring future generations to deepen their faith and love for the Blessed Mother.

To discover aspiring journalists and reactivate the school publication 'The Trudge', training on news writing and copy reading was conducted to the new set of campus journalists on October 17 and 18, 2024.

The participants were from Grades 7 to 11. Mrs. Kathleen Joyce Alilin, the School Paper Adviser, tapped the learners who have the potential in writing. She added, "Juniors have a longer span of time to serve and contribute to the school paper".

Letter of consideration was submitted to the subject teachers ensuring that the participants would be excused in their classes.

Mrs. Filomena C. Alo, the school principal graced the activity and even shared her inputs on campus journalism. It was indeed a productive two-day training for the young journalists.
