From the blue horizons reflecting the seas, to glasses filled with fermented coconut wine clinking, to the beat of the kuradang and dancing footsteps echoing in every home throughout the entire city — the dazzling lights of the cathedral illuminate not only its walls, but also the hearts of every Catbaloganon in devotion to our Patron Saint, Saint Bartholomew the Apostle.

Today, 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 is brimming with festivity as its people celebrate Saint Bartholomew’s Feast Day. May this day be filled with merriment, laughter, and most especially devotion as we give thanks for every blessing bestowed upon our beloved hometown.

Maupay na Patron, Catbalogan... I guess. But today belongs to the most loved, the most liked, the genius, the beautiful among us (amongus??!), who also happens to be the SSU 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗮!

Dearest Bart, the leap from casual psychology student to bearer of an office this administratively heavy must have been something of a culture shock, given how expansive, how sprawling, how gluttonous the breadth of this organization is. And yet you've carried it with grace and calm that makes the whole thing look effortless, like something you were simply built for.

Every paper you make, every decision you carry, hums with a genius that lives in the small hours, in the drafts no one else will ever see, in the silence of holding an entire organization together with two bare hands and sheer will. We see it. The mind that makes the impossible look like nothing at all, the wit that has everyone laughing, and, above all, the compassion that never once had to be asked for.

Thank you for all of it, for more than we know how to list. We wish you the happiest of years ahead --- the spark undimmed, feral, still catching on everything it touches; the passion to serve and to study still burning, still starving, still magnificent in your chest. Happy birthday, Bart!

Every 21st of August , Filipinos commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day in honor of the life, courage of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆 was officially established as a national special non-working holiday through Republic Act No. 9256 in 2004, so that Filipinos could commemorate his death anniversary and remember the ideals he represented.

May we never forget that freedom comes with a responsibility to remember, to speak up, and to care for our country.

The College of Arts and Sciences - Provincial Student Government officially strengthened its vision for student advocacy by successfully holding a Leadership Symposium, featuring our Resource Speaker Ms. Christine O. Calley, RN, on August 18, 2026, at the Samar State University (SSU) Convention Center (3rd Floor). This momentous event marks a crucial step in empowering student leaders and building the foundation for a stronger, more united college community.

Gathering the passionate changemakers and trailblazers from various CAS student organizations—the Municipal Psychology and Psychology Society, the Information Technology Municipal and Information Society, the Information System Municipal and Information System Society, and the Municipal Statistics and Statistics Society—the symposium served as a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and shared initiative. Together, student leaders deepened their understanding that leadership is not about standing at the front, but about lifting others as we move forward side-by-side.

With fresh perspectives gained and a renewed commitment to collaborative action, the CAS Provincial Student Government, alongside all CAS student organizations, is fully prepared to drive lasting change across the college. We stand ready to translate these insights into purposeful service, advocate for the student body, and lead with unwavering dedication.

Happy birthday, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 — Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and proof that leadership can be soft-spoken and unshakeable all at once.

There’s something almost poetic about the name itself, Sweet Mercy, as if the universe had written part of your calling before you ever did. And you’ve spent every day since living up to it: guiding a college through the kind of chaos that asks for equal parts rigor and grace, and choosing grace without ever letting go of the rigor.

Today, we celebrate not just the woman behind the title, but the quiet care she has built around it — the students she has guided, the faculty she has supported, and all the little acts of kindness that may never make it into a memo but have shaped this college in ways that matter.

From lively parades to joyful games, we watched abilities shine, individuality embraced, and hearts connected across every corner of the venue.

To every child who danced, played, and beamed with pride today: salamat sa pagpapaalala kung ano talaga ang ibig sabihin ng pagdiriwang ng pagiging natatangi. And to our partners and volunteers, whose hands and hearts made this day possible: maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal at dedikasyon! 💜

For a decade, Samar has been celebrating its roots, culture, and diversity. Carrying the legacy of our ancestors, nurtured through generations, until they bloomed beautifully in ours.

The celebration of Samar does showcase the festivities, traditions, and vibrant culture, yet it also reminds us of how Samarnons have carried our heritage through generations.

And now, in today's generation, we celebrate the 185th Founding Anniversary of Samar. This celebration may give us, both just happiness and pride, and also reminds us that Samarnons are deeply rooted in a heritage that continues to live, grow, and flourish through every generation.

From the Psychology Society, we continue to honor where we came from, celebrate our traditions, and carry the legacy of Samar into generations yet to come.
