1st SPTA 2025 Assembly Held at CVCES
Catbalogan City – Catbalogan V Central Elementary School successfully conducted its 1st School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) Assembly for the School Year 2025-2026 on September 8, 2025, at 1:30 PM in the school premises. The assembly saw a strong turnout of parents, teachers, and school administrators, to collaborate and support the school's initiatives for the upcoming year.
A key segment of the assembly was the Orientation on the Department of Education's (DepEd) Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Carina P. Rarugal (Grade IV-Grade Chairman), Adelei Karen F. Machate (Grade V-Grade Chairman), and Rosario L. Cebu (Grade VI-Grade Chairman) shared insights on aligning parental involvement with the school's educational goals and DepEd's principles.
Analyn P. Solayao (Master Teacher I) and Mary Rose P. Custorio (Teacher III) provided comprehensive updates on the Primary and Intermediate levels, respectively, ensuring that parents were well-informed about the progress and future plans of the school.
Hon. Eduardo M. Niego, Chairman of the Committee on Education; and Arthur Y. Cebu, President of the Alumni Association, delivered their messages of support, emphasizing the community's unwavering commitment to the school's success.
The assembly also facilitated the Election of SPTA Officers for S.Y. 2025-2026, empowering parents to take on leadership roles and actively participate in the school's governance.
An open forum allowed parents to voice their concerns, suggestions, and ideas, with discussions focusing on SPTA Project Proposals and other relevant matters.
Renante T. Legatub, Head Teacher III, concluded the assembly with School Head's Time, sharing final announcements and expressing gratitude for the strong partnership between the school and the parents.
The 1st SPTA Assembly was a resounding success, strengthening the bond between Catbalogan V Central Elementary School and its community, and setting a positive course for the S.Y. 2025-2026.

CVCES Parents Join in "Pintakasi" Clean-Up Drive
On September 4, 2025, Catbalogan V Central Elementary School witnessed a notable community engagement as parents participated in the monthly "Pintakasi." This initiative aimed to enhance the cleanliness of the school environment.
The "Pintakasi" is a regular activity at CVCES, designed to encourage a sense of shared responsibility among parents in maintaining the school's facilities.
Equipped with cleaning implements such as 'bolos', 'silhigs', dustpans, and sacks, the parents worked to remove litter, trim overgrown areas, and ensure the safety and tidiness of the school grounds.
The school expressed sincere appreciation to the parents for their support and active involvement.
This monthly clean-up drive not only contributes to the physical improvement of the school but also strengthens the connections within the community.

CVCES Highlights Filipino Language and Culture in Buwan ng Wika Celebration
Barangay Mercedes, Catbalogan City – Catbalogan V Central Elementary School recently concluded its month-long celebration of Buwan ng Wika, held throughout August. This year’s theme, "Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa," emphasized the importance of the Filipino language and its role in uniting the nation.
The celebration commenced with a grand parade, showcasing the creativity and unity of each grade level. Special recognition was given to the most disciplined grade and the grade with the highest number of participants, highlighting their commitment and school spirit.
A key event was the "Pagpili ng Hiyas ng Wika," a competition where students displayed their talents in attire, performance, and knowledge.
The "Pagtula" contest provided a platform for students to express their thoughts and emotions through poems.
Another highlight was the "Katutubong Sayaw," featuring traditional Filipino dances that showcased the country's rich cultural heritage.
The "Pagbabaybay sa Filipino" activity challenged students to improve their spelling skills in Filipino.
The "Sabayang Pagbigkas" event featured group recitations of poems and literary pieces, emphasizing emotion, rhythm, and coordination.
"Interpretatibong Pagbasa" allowed students to creatively interpret and perform literary works, using their voices and gestures to bring stories to life.
The Buwan ng Wika celebration at CVCES fostered a deeper sense of appreciation and national identity among the students.

Niamh Tamayo Makes History at RSPC 2025
Niamh Ma. Rosary N. Tamayo, a student from Catbalogan V Central Elementary School, has etched her name in the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2025, held in Borongan City from February 8-11. Her triumph? A first-place win in the highly competitive Editorial Cartooning category. This victory is not just a personal achievement; it is a historic one for her school, securing the highest possible ranking in editorial cartooning.
Niamh is a talented artist with past wins in drawing contests. She is also a great student. This school year has been amazing for her, with competition wins. Her hard work has clearly paid off, culminating in this prestigious win.
The RSPC win underscores not only Niamh's individual talent but also the supportive environment fostered at Catbalogan V. It will undoubtedly be a source of pride for Catbalogan V for years to come.

CVCES shines at 2025 DFOT
CATBALOGAN CITY – Three students from Catbalogan V Central Elementary School brought home multiple awards from the 2025 Division Festival of Talents, held at Silanga National High School from January 30th to February 1st.
- Chiz B. Pascobillo secured fourth place in the Tahirawan competition, guided by coach, Mrs. Evangeline G. Libanan.
- Marie Claire D. Tamayo earned fourth place in the Story Resolution Challenge. Her coach, Mrs. Ligaya C. Bueno, is to be commended for her guidance.
- Niamh Ma. Rosary N. Tamayo achieved fifth place in the invitation card making competition, showcasing her creativity and proficiency in using productivity tools. Mrs. Adelei Karen F. Machate served as her coach.
Their achievements reflect the school's commitment to holistic education.

CVCES' Niamh Tamayo wins 1st Place in DSPC
Niamh Ma. Rosary N. Tamayo led the team, securing first place in Editorial Cartooning (Filipino) at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held January 23-25, 2025 at Samar National School, and earning a spot at the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).
Other campus journalists also did well: Lovely Therese P. Custorio (2nd place, Column Writing – Filipino), Saff Alessander Jett C. Tabucao (4th place, Feature Writing – English), Danemae Nepthali Faith A. Cariño (4th place, Copyreading – Filipino), and Gale Margareth R. Recreo (5th place, Copyreading – English).
Against all odds, they achieved success with only limited hours of practice under their belts.

CVCES Celebrates Young Artist's Triumph in National Children's Month Contest
Niamh Ma. Rosary N. Tamayo, a student from Catbalogan V Central Elementary School has claimed first place in the 2024 National Children's Month Poster Making Contest held at Catbalogan City Plaza on November 29, 2024. Her winning poster, themed "Protecting Children's Rights Through Agriculture," impressed judges and secured her the top prize.
Tamayo's artwork stood out among numerous entries, showcasing a powerful message about the importance of children's rights within the context of agriculture. Her coach, Sir Ryan A. Machate, expressed pride in Tamayo's achievement, highlighting her dedication and talent.

Tabucao Secures 2nd Place in Division Math Quiz
Saff Alessander Jett C. Tabucao, a Grade 4 pupil, secured second place in the recent Division Math Quiz (Grade 4 Level) held at Samar National School on October 18, 2024. Coached by Ms. Carina P. Rarugal, Tabucao competed against 18 other participants from various districts in the division, showcasing his mathematical prowess and earning the silver medal.
