SSU Bamboo Program

The SSU Bamboo Team held the 1 day program for bamboo farmers at Basey, Samar last July 18, 2023. The main objective of the training was to assist Basey in developing its bamboo business and bamboo plantation while also increasing awareness of financial literacy.

A pre-assessment was administered to the bamboo farmers. The purpose of the pre-assessment was to identify their needs and knowledge in terms of financial management and entrepreneurship. The discussion covered topics such as Increased Understanding of Financial Concepts, Improved Financial Planning, Enhanced Income Management, Savings and Investment, and Debt Management. A total of 52 bamboo farmers attended the discussion about the program's activities.

To set a mark for the implementation of Samar State University (SSU) Bamboo Program that will promote sustainable development and uplift rural communities, the Department of Science and Technology through its Community Empowerment thru Science & Technology (CEST) program held a turn-over ceremony of fund to the University on August 2 (23) at the SSU Convention Center, Board Room.

The SSU Bamboo Program conducted orientation last June 2, 2023 about the activities of the program with the bamboo farmers in Matuguinao, Samar

Last April 4, 2023, the SSU Bamboo Program identified the exact location of the proposed establishment of the Bamboo Nursery in SSU-Basey Campus and visited the bamboo plantation in Brgy. Rawis-Guirang, Basey Samar along Sohoton River.

The SSU Bamboo Program conducted its 1st consultative meeting with the Bamboo Farmer representative in Basey, Samar. 🙂
