𝐋𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐤 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐞-𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦-𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲

The officers of the UEP Lipunang Pampanitikan (LiponPanitik), the official student organization of the AB Literature program, strengthened their teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie through a one-day Team-Building Activity held on August 23, 2026, at Prince Seashore Beach Resort, Doña Lucia, Mondragon, Northern Samar.

Organized by the LiponPanitik advisers, the activity sought to foster stronger working relationships among the officers and encourage them to reflect on their individual roles and contributions to the organization.

The activity opened with “Self-Introduction with a Twist,” which provided the officers with an engaging way to introduce themselves and learn more about their fellow officers. This was followed by an assertion activity, where each officer shared how they could contribute to the organization and identified the strengths and responsibilities they could bring to the team.

After the morning sessions, the officers gathered for lunch before engaging in a series of team-building games. The activities challenged the participants to communicate effectively, collaborate with their teammates, exercise creativity, and work toward common goals.

The games also provided an opportunity for the officers to develop trust and strengthen their relationships beyond their respective roles in the organization. Through friendly competition and shared experiences, the participants gained a deeper appreciation of the importance of cooperation in achieving organizational objectives.

The activity concluded with the awarding of winners from the various games, followed by a swimming session that allowed the officers to unwind and enjoy time together.

The one-day activity served as a venue for the LiponPanitik officers to build stronger connections, reaffirm their commitment to the organization, and prepare themselves for the activities and responsibilities ahead for Academic Year 2026–2027. #

Matagumpay na nagtapos ang mga delegado ng Bachelor of Arts in Literature ng University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) sa Ika-5 Saling Panitik: Bienvenido Lumbera Seminar-Palihan sa Pagsasalin, na idinaos noong Agosto 18–20, 2026 sa Microtel UP Technohub, Quezon City.

Kabilang sa mga kinatawan ng pamantasan sina Dr. Jill Cerbito-Basierto, Tagapangulo ng Departmento sa mga Wika at Komunikasyon; Dr. Rogelio Banagnabag, Direktor para sa Pananaliksik; Inst. Mark P. Bonabon, kasapi ng pangunahing kaguruan ng AB Literature; at Kent Del Monte, mag-aaral sa ikatlong taon ng AB Literature.

Sa loob ng tatlong araw ng pambansang kumperensiya, nakibahagi ang mga kinatawan ng UEP kasama ang mga kapwa kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa. Naging lunsaran ang pagtitipon para sa pagpapalitan ng mga kaisipan, karanasan, at pananaw hinggil sa pagsasalin, panitikan, wika, at edukasyon sa hanay ng mga g**o, mananaliksik, manunulat, tagasalin, at mag-aaral mula sa iba’t ibang institusyong pang-edukasyon.

Pinangunahan ng Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing ang ikalimang edisyon ng Saling Panitik: Bienvenido Lumbera Seminar-Palihan sa Pagsasalin na may temang “Pagsasalin bilang Pedagohiya.”

Sa tatlong araw na palihan, tinalakay ang ugnayan ng pagsasalin at edukasyon, kabilang ang paggamit ng pagsasalin sa pagtuturo, paglinang ng kaalaman, at pag-unawa sa iba’t ibang wika at kulbansa Binuksan ang unang araw sa mga mensahe nina Dr. Jimmuel Naval, Mx. Silay Lumbera, at Dr. Vladimeir Gonzales, na sinundan ng keynote message ni Pambansang Alagad ng Sining para sa Panitikan Dr. Virgilio Almario.

Kabilang sa mga unang lektura ang “Mga Paglihis at Sinadyang Pag-iiba sa Pagsasaling Pampanitikan” ni Dr. Gonzales at “Translating Regional Literature: From Words to Worlds” ni Mr. Niles Jordan Breis. Tinalakay dito ang mga estratehiya sa pagsasalin at ang kahalagahan ng konteksto at kulturang pinagmulan ng isang akda.

Sa ikalawang araw, tampok ang mga talakayan tungkol sa pagsasalin sa agham, teknolohiya, at mga tekstong teknikal at akademiko. Tinalakay nina Dr. Fortunato B. Sevilla III, Mr. Elmer C. Peramo, at Prof. Eilene G. Narvaez ang paggamit ng Filipino sa pagtuturo ng agham, ugnayan ng tao at makinarya sa pagsasalin, at mga prinsipyo sa pagsasalin ng teknikal at akademikong teksto.

Sa huling araw, binigyang-diin ang dekolonisasyon at multilingguwal na pagtuturo. Tinalakay nina Dr. Anna Sibayan-Sarmiento at Dr. Frances Cruz ang dekolonisasyon sa pagtuturo ng wika at pagsasalin, habang ibinahagi naman ni Dr. Romylyn A. Metila ang paggamit ng translanguaging at pagsasalin sa loob ng silid-aralan.

Nagtapos ang palihan sa isang roundtable discussion at seremonya ng pagtatapos, kung saan iginawad ang mga sertipiko ng paglahok sa mga nakatapos ng tatlong araw na pambansang seminar-palihan.

Ipinangalan ang Saling Panitik kay National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera bilang pagkilala sa kaniyang ambag sa wika, panitikan, at kultura. Kabilang sa mga lumahok sa pambansang palihan ang mga kinatawan ng University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), na nakipagpalitan ng kaalaman at karanasan sa mga kapwa kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang rehiyon at institusyon sa bansa.

Alinsunod sa Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, ang Agosto 21, 2026 (Biyernes) ay idineklarang Special (Non-Working) Day sa buong bansa bilang paggunita ng Ninoy Aquino Day.

Ang Ninoy Aquino Day ay pagkakataon para sa bansa na parangalan ang mga Pilipinong nag-alay ng kanilang buhay sa pakikibaka para sa kamatuoran, katadungan, at kagawasan. Si dating Senador Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., isa sa mga pangunahing kritiko ng diktadura ni Ferdinand Marcos Sr., ay pinaslang noong Agosto 21, 1983, sa kanyang pagbabalik sa Pilipinas matapos ang tatlong taong pagkadestiyero sa United States. Ang pagpaslang sa kaniya ay nagpasiklab ng malawakang pagkilos laban sa diktadura at naging mahalagang bahagi ng mga pangyayaring humantong sa People Power Revolution noong 1986.

Sa paggunita sa araw na ito, nakikiduyog ang Bachelor of Arts in Literature Program ng University of Eastern Philippines sa buong bansa sa pagtatanggol sa kamatuoran ng kasaysayan, pangangalaga sa kagawasan, at pagtataguyod ng katadungan. Nawa’y magsilbing pahimatngon ang buhay at sakripisyo ni Ninoy na ang kasarinlan ay ipinaglalaban at pinangangalagaan, at padayon na magbigay-inspirasyon sa mga Pilipinong naghahangad ng mas makatarungan, militante, at makabuluhang kabubuwason.

CATARMAN, NORTHERN SAMAR — August 18, 2026. The officers and advisers of the UEP Lipunang Pampanitikan (LiponPanitik), the official student organization of the AB Literature program, conducted preparations for the Academic Year 2026–2027 on August 17–18.

The two-day activity began with the distribution of Certificates of Registration (COR) to students who were unable to claim their documents the previous week. The organization also assisted freshmen and shiftees by addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding enrollment and other academic matters.

As part of the program’s preparations for the upcoming Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Monitoring Visit, the officers and advisers likewise assisted in organizing and preparing pertinent documents and materials.

The officers likewise conducted a clean-up activity at CAC 4B and the University Learning Resource Center (ULRC), helping ensure that the spaces were clean, orderly, and ready for use as the new academic year commenced.

The activity concluded with the organization’s first meeting for the academic year, during which the officers discussed action plans, upcoming activities, and other matters concerning the organization and its members.

Through the initiative, LiponPanitik strengthened its role in supporting students and the AB Literature program as the new academic year gets underway. #

Bilang pakikiisa ng ADHIKA ng Pilipinas, Inc. para sa Buwan ng Kasaysayan sa pakikipagtulungan ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Local Historical Committees Network (LHCN) ngayong taon, malugod na inaanyayahan ang lahat na dumalo sa taunang webinar na may temang “Sa Larangan ng Diplomasya: Mga Karanasan at Kasaysayan ng Serbisyong Pandiplomatiko ng Pilipinas” na gaganapin via Microsoft Teams sa ika-31 ng Agosto 2026, 2:00 n.h. - 4:00 n.h.

Kabilang sa ating mga tagapagsalita sina Ret. Amb. Lilybeth R. Deapera (Embassy of the Philippines, United Mexican States) at Consul Von Ryan Pangwi (Philippine Consulate General in Houston). The AB Literature Special Qualifying Examinations (Special Quals) are administered to qualified shiftees and transferees who have already completed most of the General Education (GE) courses in their previous programs or institutions.

Before completing the shifting or transfer process, applicants undergo four types of examinations designed to assess their readiness and fit for the AB Literature program:

🔎 Reading and Critical Thinking
✍️ Composition Writing
🎙️ Oral Examination

More than an admission requirement, the Special Quals also provide aspiring AB Literature students an opportunity to discern whether the program aligns with their interests, abilities, and academic aspirations.

Those who successfully pass the examinations are admitted into the program and may proceed directly to taking major and core Literature courses, allowing them to maximize their remaining years in the program.

“Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Kaisipan.”

Hindi lamang daluyan ng komunikasyon ang wika—ito ang tahanan ng panitikan, tagapag-ingat ng ating gunita, at sisidlan ng ating kolektibong kamalayan. Sa bawat tula, kuwento, dula, at sanaysay na nalilikha sa wikang Filipino, higit nating nauunawaan ang ating sarili, kasaysayan, at lipunan.

Sa panahon ng Artificial Intelligence, nagbubukas ang teknolohiya ng mga bagong posibilidad para sa pananaliksik, paglikha, at pag-aaral ng panitikan. Maaari itong maging kasangkapan sa mas mabilis na pag-access ng kaalaman, pagsusuri ng mga teksto, at paglinang ng mga bagong pananaw. Gayunman, nananatiling tao ang puso ng panitikan—ang imahinasyon, damdamin, pagpapahalaga, at malikhaing pag-iisip na hindi kayang palitan ng anumang teknolohiya.

Bilang mga kasapi ng UEP Lipunang Pampanitikan, patuloy nating itataguyod ang wikang Filipino bilang wika ng sining, pananaliksik, at kritikal na pag-iisip. Gamitin natin ang AI hindi bilang kapalit ng ating tinig, kundi bilang katuwang sa mas malalim na pag-unawa, mas masusing pananaliksik, at mas makabuluhang paglikha ng panitikan.

Sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2026, ipagdiwang natin ang wikang Filipino—ang tulay sa yaman ng kaisipan at ang buhay na kaluluwa ng ating panitikan.
