After nearly five hours of vote tallying, and as the last program to complete counting in the College of Arts and Communication, the UEP Political Science Society delivered a game-changing 78.7% voter turnout. Out of 308 enrolled students, 242 actively participated in the electoral process, under the guidance of Program Coordinator Inst. Mark Theo Zeta and core faculty member, Inst. Nieto S. Yruma.
This turnout reflects a society that understands the value of representation and the responsibility that comes with being politically aware and engaged.
Truly, you can never outmatch a society that knows the weight of every vote.

This is a reminder for everyone to vote with awareness, wisdom, and purpose. Elections are not simply about choosing familiar names, but about selecting leaders who have the integrity, competence, and commitment to genuinely serve and represent the student body. They will become the voice, our representation, and will act as the liaison between students and administration.
If we demand good governance on the national level, then we must demand the same within our university. Student elections should never be taken for granted, because the leaders we choose today will serve, represent, and stand for us throughout the next academic year.
Go out and vote wisely.

Addressing the critical challenge of political apathy, Mr. Paul Lachica, Regional Coordinator and Spokesperson of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, Regional Coordinator of the National Union of Students of the Philippines, and former Chairperson of the UP Tacloban Student Council, delivered a compelling talk titled โScroll Politics: Youth Apathy in the Digital Ageโ during 1st Pagtirirok, a Political Leadership Training led by Third Year BAPoS Students. In his discussion, he challenged the youth to exhibit the courage necessary for real-world participation and strongly emphasized that, for the youth to truly โBe Involvedโ and โBecome the Voice,โ they must actively resist the normalization of confinement within the digital sphere.
The discussion centered on the question of whether students, on their own, can effect genuine social changeโa question that encouraged deeper analysis among the participants. In the latter part of his talk, he emphasized that for society to achieve meaningful and lasting change, different sectors such as farmers, laborers, and other marginalized groups must work collectively. Students, he noted, can serve as catalysts, but cannot act in isolation. Thus, the challenge for students is to consistently unite with the broader masses and refuse to inherit and perpetuate a rotten system. He concluded by stressing that civic responsibility demands moving beyond mere convenience and choosing genuine, active engagement.
