On September 10, 2025, The Global School for Technological Studies, Inc. (GSTS), in collaboration with the Catarman Philippine National Police (PNP), conducted a series of orientation seminars at the GSTS Building. The activity aimed to raise awareness among students on three significant national laws: Republic Act 9262, Republic Act 9165, and Republic Act 11053.
The first session was led by PSSg. Maria Beth E. Genio, who delivered a comprehensive discussion on Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. She explained the causes and consequences of abuse, emphasized the rights of the victims, and underscored the importance of recognizing and addressing abusive behaviors. Her talk provided valuable insights to help students understand the nature of abuse and strengthened their awareness of this social issue.
Following this, PCpl. Britney Bandojo tackled Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. She highlighted the harmful effects of illegal drugs on both the physical and psychological well-being of individuals. The discussion emphasized the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of making responsible life choices to safeguard oneโs health and future.
The final session was facilitated by PMSg. Jimboy P. Mercado, who presented Republic Act 11053, also known as the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018. His lecture focused on the dangers of hazing, the penalties under the law, and the need to foster a safe and supportive school environment free from violence and abuse.
The orientation served as an educational platform to enhance studentsโ knowledge of these important laws. It aimed to promote awareness, responsibility, and proactive involvement in preventing violence, substance abuse, and hazing within the school and the broader community.
Overall, the activity was a meaningful and informative event that contributed to the holistic development of the students by guiding them to become law-abiding, responsible, and socially aware individuals.
