Cataingan, Masbate โ€” All ten (10) teachers from Madamba Integrated School (MIS) who applied for promotion successfully advanced in rank this year under the Department of Educationโ€™s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) for Teachers, following a fair and merit-based recruitment and selection process conducted by the Schools Division of Masbate.

Despite the challenges brought by the aftermath of Typhoon Opong, which severely affected Masbate and caused prolonged electricity and internet outages, the teacher-applicants persevered and completed the stringent application requirements. Their collective success stands as a testament to resilience and dedication to the teaching profession.

Promoted from Teacher III to Teacher VI are Carlo Y. Abiga, Jeanna A. Abiga, Gaudencio R. Arranguez Jr., Theresa T. Boro, June Irish M. Gulpan, Francisca C. Pelletero, and Louvin T. Tudtod.

Shalie Mar O. Benig advanced from Teacher I to Teacher IV, Cheryl C. Ybaรฑez was promoted from Teacher II to Teacher V, and Jesus A. Lim Jr. advanced from Teacher I to Teacher III.

The Expanded Career Progression (ECP) for Teachers, institutionalized by the Department of Education, provides a structured and merit-based pathway for public school teachers to advance in rank without leaving classroom teaching. It recognizes qualifications, competencies, performance, and professional development, thereby promoting professional growth while ensuring that quality educators remain in the classroom.

Among the key benefits of the ECP are:
Clear career advancement pathways for teachers;
Higher salary grades corresponding to higher positions;
Recognition of professional standards and competencies aligned with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST); and Enhanced motivation and retention of high-performing educators.

One of the promoted teachers shared that the program significantly contributes to both professional and personal development. โ€œThis promotion is a great help to our professional growth and also improves our financial capacity. When teachers are supported and motivated, they can teach better and serve learners more effectively,โ€ the teacher said.

School officials lauded the promoted teachers for their perseverance, especially amid difficult circumstances. Their achievement reflects not only individual commitment but also the schoolโ€™s continuing pursuit of excellence in delivering quality, accessible, and equitable education.

The Madamba Integrated School community extends its heartfelt congratulations to the newly promoted teachers and reaffirms its commitment to nurturing competent, resilient, and future-ready educators for every learner.

The activity aimed to recognize the vital role of women in nation-building and to promote gender equality within the school community.

In her keynote message, School Principal Mrs. Carlota Tejero underscored the transformation of womenโ€™s roles from the past to the present.

โ€œWomen before were not sent to school because they were expected to stay at home and attend to household responsibilities,โ€ Mrs. Tejero said. โ€œToday, because of the significant contributions of women in society, Womenโ€™s Month is celebrated in appreciation of their important role. At present, many women serve as leaders and hold managerial positions in various fields.โ€

She encouraged learners to emulate the strength and leadership of the babaylans, known in pre-colonial Philippine society as women of influence, wisdom, and courage.

Mrs. Tejero also announced the lineup of activities for the month-long celebration, which include the integration of Gender and Development (GAD) concepts in classroom instruction, the wearing of purple attire every Wednesday as a symbol of support for womenโ€™s empowerment, a poem-making activity, and other related school-based initiatives.

Reaffirming the schoolโ€™s commitment to inclusivity, she emphasized that all learners must be treated with respect and dignity.

โ€œWe are all equal regardless of gender. Being gay or le***an is never an excuse for anyone to be bullied,โ€ she stressed, echoing the schoolโ€™s adherence to child protection and anti-bullying policies.

As part of the program, selected learners offered flowers to female teachers as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and invaluable contributions to education and community development.

The kick-off activity signaled the start of a series of programs designed to raise awareness on gender equality and to celebrate the leadership, achievements, and enduring contributions of women in society.
