Sorsogon State University (SorSU) joins Filipinos nationwide in commemorating the 43rd death anniversary of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. on August 21, 2026.

Ninoy Aquino’s life and public service remain associated with the struggle for democracy and the Filipino people’s call for freedom and good governance.

His legacy continues to remind Filipinos of the importance of courage, public service, and standing for principles that serve the greater good.

As an institution committed to education and public service, SorSU recognizes the significance of remembering individuals whose lives and sacrifices have shaped the country’s history and contributed to the nation’s pursuit of a just and democratic society. (SorSU PIO)

The Sorsogon State University Scholarship and Financial Assistance Services Unit (SorSU-SFASU) announces the Special Application for Replacement of Terminated ILP Scholars under the LANDBANK Countryside Development Foundation, Inc. (LCDFI) – Iskolar ng LANDBANK Program.

The scholarship is open to students pursuing the following 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀:
1. 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
2. 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
3. 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮:
• Qualified 3rd-year regular college students enrolled in an eligible course
• Resident of Sorsogon
• Child/grandchild of an ARB or small farmer/fisher registered in RSBSA
• Minimum 90% average
• No failing/conditional grades and in good academic standing
• Not receiving any other scholarship/financial assistance
• Annual family income not exceeding ₱300,000

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝟭𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲:
1) Duly filled-out and signed ILP Application Form with complete supporting documents
2) Pre-recorded video (maximum of 3 minutes) containing a brief self-introduction and answers to the following questions:

Qualified students are encouraged to prepare and submit the required documents, including the ILP Application Form and a maximum 3-minute pre-recorded video.

Sorsogon State University–Castilla Campus conducted its Faculty Meeting for 1st Semester, Academic Year 2026–2027 on August 11, 2026, at the Farmers Training Hall, gathering teaching personnel to discuss key academic and institutional matters for the new school year.

The meeting was led by Dr. Milagros N. Ebuanga, Acting Campus Director, who guided the discussions on important concerns related to instruction, research, extension, faculty performance, program compliance and accreditation, and other institutional operations. The activity served as an avenue for faculty members to review relevant matters necessary for the continuous and efficient delivery of quality education to students.

During the meeting, teaching personnel were given the opportunity to present updates and raise concerns related to their respective academic responsibilities and programs. These discussions aimed to ensure that faculty efforts remain aligned with the university’s standards, requirements, and direction for Academic Year 2026–2027.

The activity also reinforced coordination among faculty members as they prepare for another year of academic service. Through the meeting, SorSU–Castilla Campus strengthened its commitment to quality instruction, research productivity, extension services, program development, and continuous institutional improvement.

SorSU Castilla Campus held a ceremony to officially welcome the Academic Year 2026-2027 on August 10, 2026.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the Acting Campus Director Dr. Milagros N. Ebuenga delivered encouraging opening remarks welcoming everyone back to school and with reassuring words, she welcomed the freshmen into the community.

The members of the campus workforce - both teaching and non-teaching were introduced during the program, allowing the students, especially the freshmen, to familiarize themselves with their instructors and campus staff. Additionally, members of student organizations were also introduced.

The program also welcomed home from Indonesia the UMN Sustainability Immersion Program Delegates - Ms. Micah P. Arellado, the faculty-delegate and Ms. Kristine Mae D. Equipado, the student-delegate.

The College of Agriculture Dean Dr. Rochele N. Aragon delivered her closing remarks further encouraging the students and highlighting the importance of community, commitment, and service.

In a move to reinforce institutional governance and foster sustainable agricultural partnerships, newly appointed SorSU Castilla Acting Campus Director Dr. Milagros N. Ebuenga, accompanied by College of Agriculture Dean Dr. Rochele N. Aragon, and Supervising Administrative Officer Mrs. Reynalda H. Duana, officially conducted a series of courtesy visits to key local government and agricultural stakeholders in Castilla, Sorsogon.

Dr. Ebuenga, together with Dr. Aragon and Mrs. Duana, met with Castilla Municipal Mayor Mr. Isagani "B**g" Mendoza, Municipal Agriculturist Officer Mr. Manuel Marantal, and Brgy. Mayon Chairman Mr. Alvin Camacho to introduce her administration's transition and reaffirm the campus's dedication to collaborative development. As the institutional and academic heads, they engaged in dialogues aimed at aligning SorSU Castilla's academic, research, and extension programs closely with municipal goals, agricultural advancements, and community welfare.

SorSU Castilla continues to move forward with a shared vision of serving and growing alongside its community partners.
