Entropy measures the number of possible ways a system can be arranged.

According to the 2๐’๐’… ๐‘ณ๐’‚๐’˜ ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’†๐’“๐’Ž๐’๐’…๐’š๐’๐’‚๐’Ž๐’Š๐’„๐’”, the entropy of an isolated system tends to increase in irreversible processes. From melting ice to the spreading of perfume, entropy helps explain why many natural processes move toward greater disorder. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

๐‘ซ๐’Š๐’… ๐’š๐’๐’– ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’˜? A simple paper clip can actually float on the surface of water, even though it is denser than water! ๐Ÿ“Ž๐Ÿ’ง This surprising phenomenon demonstrates the fascinating concept of ๐‘บ๐’–๐’“๐’‡๐’‚๐’„๐’† ๐‘ป๐’†๐’๐’”๐’Š๐’๐’!

Water molecules attract one another through ๐’„๐’๐’‰๐’†๐’”๐’Š๐’—๐’† ๐’‡๐’๐’“๐’„๐’†๐’”, creating a thin, elastic-like layer at the surface. When the paper clip is carefully placed on the water, this surface can support it without breaking.

But add a little soap, and the surface tension decreases, causing the paper clip to sink! ๐Ÿซง๐Ÿ’ฆ This simple experiment shows how invisible molecular forces can create visible effects in the world around us.
