Ola, Earth Warriors! As we kicked off the Earth Hour successfully last March. Today, we are here to remind you how important your support is towards the environment. 🌍♻️

Here's a fun fact. Did you know that Earth Day has become one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment, with participation from over 180 countries and territories? It has become massive as year passes by and that is a huge achievement we humans could do for our mother nature! 🍃

In additional to that, we've prepared five steps for you on how to take good care of mother nature.

1. REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Reduce consumption, reuse items and recycle to reduce waste,

2. ENERGY CONSERVATION

Turn off the lights when not in use and utilize renewable energy sources.

3. ECO-FRIENDLY TRANSPORT

Use environmentally friendly transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

4. PLANTING A TREE

Plant trees to help absorb carbon and maintain ecosystem balance.

5. REDUCE PLASTIC USE

Replace plastic products with environmentally friendly alternatives to reduce plastic pollution.

Though it may seemed like it's a small movement, this can still be a huge process what's done together. Nature doesn't really need people but we need nature. Prevention is always better than the cure itself. 🍃🌱

— What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour is an annual event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness about climate change and environmental sustainability. It typically takes place on the last Saturday of March each year.

— What do you do during Earth Hour?

During Earth Hour, individuals, communities, and businesses are encouraged to turn off non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time. People celebrate Earth Hour by organizing events such as candlelit dinners, stargazing, or community gatherings to symbolize their commitment to taking action on climate change.

Come and join us as with this movement. In the darkness of Earth Hour, let's illuminate hope for a brighter, sustainable future. 🌿💚

CNHS YES-O SHS department joins the INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP Day 2023!

Are you ready to unleash earth-friendly self‽ 🌎 🌿

It's international coastal cleanup day! 🌊

Tomorrow, September 16, is International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day. On this day, people all over the world will go to beaches and waterways to remove trash. Here in the Philippines, ICC was institutionalized through Proclamation No. 470, series of 2003 of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The third Saturday of September was designated as Philippine ICC Day.

The ICC began more than 35 years ago. It was founded by Linda Maraniss and Kathy O’Hara, both of whom worked at the Ocean Conservancy, a nonprofit environmental advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., United States. Since its beginning, more than 17 million volunteers have collected more than 350 million pounds of trash. Isn't it amazing?

As we celebrate the International Coastal Cleanup Drive tomorrow, we have decided to take action for our town. To take action for our waters, to take action for our coast. 🌊

Earlier, an orientation was successfully held for our student leaders that would allow them to improve their leadership skills for the other years to come. The YES-O officers, BKD, and SSLG were present along with the teachers and classroom leaders of our school. ✊

The Presidents of YES-O and BKD also shared their amazing school goals and initiatives.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the teachers, the SSLG officers and for the students that have attended this orientation to make this event possible.

Everyone can lead, everyone can strive harder for the better good of our school.

Hand in hand, we will keep the fire burning with passion and dedication.

Yesterday, August 9, 2023, we annually celebrated the "𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅’𝒔 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆". It's a day dedicated to honor the diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of indigenous communities worldwide.

This day holds immense significance as it sheds light on the ongoing struggles that indigenous peoples face, including land rights issues, discrimination, and cultural preservation challenges. By recognizing and celebrating their rich heritage, we can help boost their voices and advocate for meaningful change.

Let's use this opportunity to educate ourselves about the unique histories, wisdom, and resilience of indigenous people around the globe. So go ahead and share your favorite indigenous artwork or inspire others by sharing fascinating facts about their invaluable customs.

Carmen National High School - Day Class YES-O (Youth for Environment in Schools Organization) / BIODIVERSITY CLUB joins the celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. 🌏

International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem is celebrated every year on 26 July and aims to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as “a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem” and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

In cooperation with the Supreme Student Government and Barkada Kontra Droga Officers, the YES-O officers and members will have a clean-up drive at Bantigue, Carmen, Cebu mangrove swamp, today July 26, 2023 (Wednesday) at 1 PM. 🕐

Happy International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem everyone!!!🏞️
