Under DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, the Academic Excellence Award is no longer given every term or grading period.
For Grades 4โ12, Academic Excellence is determined at the end of the school year based on the learnerโs Final Grades and General Average.
To qualify, a learner must have:
General Average of 90 or higher
No Final Grade below 80 in any learning area
No derogatory record or disciplinary case during the school year
For Key Stage 1 learners under the descriptive grading system, academic awards are not conferred, although appropriate non-academic recognitions may still be given in accordance with DepEd guidelines.
โ
Schools may continue recognizing learners for good attendance, positive behavior, participation, improvement, and other non-academic achievements.
This change emphasizes holistic learner development rather than giving Academic Excellence recognition after every term.
