‎
‎As we step further into the modern era, 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝖠𝖨) continues to be celebrated as progress. Yet behind this advancement lies a question many choose to ignore:
‎
‎𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭?

‎As our country pushes for more development , we must ask “𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘂𝘀?"
‎
‎Our forests are 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜. Our rivers are at 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠. Our mountains are being 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙚, while the land that feeds our farmers is becoming more 𝙫𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.

‎
‎𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠.
‎
‎We already pay for 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧.
‎What more when it's 𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙙𝙡𝙮 consumed?
‎
‎Consumed like the amount of minerals that will be processed—minerals such as Nickels, Coppers, Cobalts, and many more.
‎
‎Plus the hundreds of trees that will be cut 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣—trees that give us the air we need. Trees that provide more than asked.
‎
‎Our farmers rise before sunrise, working tirelessly to feed the nation. They depend on fertile land, clean water, and a healthy environment. Once these are lost, they cannot be replaced.
‎
‎𝐈𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?

‎The environment is not a resource to be consumed—𝙞𝙩 is our 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚, our 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙, and our 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚. Without a healthy environment, there would be no 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚.

On this day June 12, 2026, as we celebrate the 𝟏𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲, let us take pride in our nation's hard earned freedom and the patriotism of the Filipino people.
‎
‎As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes and those who fought for our liberty, may we also remember that independence is not only a part of our history, it is a responsibility we uphold through unity, integrity, and service to our fellow Filipinos.
‎
‎May we continue to honor our history, preserve our culture, and inspire future generations to love and serve our country.
