𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | ISPSC secures third consecutive Ilocos Sur Tourism Quiz Bee title

The Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) Candon Campus once again demonstrated its excellence in tourism education as its College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) secured its third consecutive championship title in the Ilocos Sur Tourism Quiz Bee held at the Chavit Coliseum, Vigan City, on September 9, 2026.

Representing ISPSC Candon Campus, Dana Mae Marquez and Janna Mae Arquio, both students of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) Program, emerged as champions in the provincial tourism competition, with Dr. Richard Etrata, CHTM Dean, who led the delegation. Their victory extends ISPSC Candon-CHTM’s winning streak to three consecutive years, highlighting the campus’s sustained excellence in tourism knowledge and academic competition.

The three-peat victory forms part of ISPSC Candon Campus’s participation in the Ilocos Sur Tourism Festival 2026, where its students are competing in various tourism-related activities alongside participants from across the province.

As ISPSC continues its journey toward universityhood, the three-peat victory highlights the strength of CHTM in developing future tourism professionals, advancing SDG 4 on Quality Education through relevant and excellence-driven learning, SDG on Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing industry-ready graduates who can contribute to the tourism sector, and SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting tourism, cultural heritage, and sustainable community development in Ilocos Sur and the region. The Supreme Student Council of ISPSC Candon Campus roudly congratulates SSC President Dana Mae Marquez and her partner, Janna Mae Arquio, for being the champion in the Ilocos Sur Tourism Festival Quiz Bee 2026, marking the 3rd consecutive championship title for the ISPSC Candon Campus - College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The championship crown stays in Candon.

Pamilya Turismo duo from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) Program, Dana Mae Marquez, 4th Year, and Janna Mae Arquio, 3rd Year, captured the championship title in the Ilocos Sur Tourism Quiz Bee, securing the third consecutive win for the ISPSC Candon Campus College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), at the Chavit Coliseum, Vigan City on September 9.

The latest victory extends a winning legacy that began in 2024, when Ellen Joy Cortado and Esmilita Joaquin, also representing the same CHTM team, brought home the championship title. The duo followed it up with another victory in 2025, giving the campus back-to-back championships before Marquez and Arquio took over the crown this year.

The Tourism Quiz Bee took a surprising turn this year as organizers introduced a new competition format featuring several rounds of elimination to determine the eventual winners. Participants from various higher education and basic education institutions across the province of Ilocos Sur battled through the challenging rounds.

Marquez and Arquio outlasted the competition and emerged as this year’s champions, keeping the championship title in the hands of ISPSC Candon Campus for the third year in a row.

The winning duo is set to receive a ₱10,000 cash prize for their impressive performance, adding another achievement to the growing list of accomplishments of the CHTM.

The champions received strong support from Campus Director Dr. Annie D. Dorada and the CHTM headed by Dean Dr. Richard M. Etrata, together with Program Chairs Ms. Remedios V. Sanchez and Ms. Jamie Joyce D. Gonzaga, and Tourism faculty member Mr. Joel B. Hop, and the SOUTH officers.
