Following their exploration of cornik production, our young learners proceeded to the next stop, the traditional preparation of calamay.

At this stage of the visit, the children were introduced to the ingredients and observed the various steps involved in preparing this cherished local delicacy. They were also given the opportunity to participate in the process by carefully mixing the ingredients under proper guidance and supervision.

This hands-on experience allowed our learners to engage with the process beyond simple observation. It provided them with a deeper appreciation of the ingredients, preparation, patience, and skilled work involved in creating a traditional product that is part of our local food culture.

Through experiences such as this, our learners are able to connect classroom concepts with authentic community practices while developing curiosity, appreciation, and respect for the people and traditions that make our community unique.

Today, our young learners stepped beyond the classroom to the local food production as they visited LSJ Cornik Factory, gaining firsthand insight into the people, processes, and dedication behind one of Candon City’s cherished local delicacies.

As part of our “My Community” learning theme, this educational excursion was designed to broaden our learners’ awareness of the different places, industries, and community establishments that exist within their own locality. Through this experience, we wanted our children to recognize that their community is home to various workplaces and industries that provide products, services, and opportunities that contribute to the lives of its people.

We extend our sincere appreciation to LSJ Cornik Factory for graciously welcoming our learners and generously opening their workplace to us. Your cooperation and hospitality provided our children with an authentic learning experience, allowing them to observe firsthand how community helpers work together and how local products make their way from production to the families and communities they serve.

Who’s Ready for Our Next Community Adventure?

Our young learners are off on another exciting learning experience as we continue our exploration of “My Community.” This time, with a special focus on the food industry.

Today, we are taking again our learning beyond the classroom as we visit LSJ Factory, where our Pre-Kindergarten class will have the opportunity to discover how some of Candon City’s well-known local delicacies, including its famous cornik and calamay, are prepared and produced.

Through this real-world experience, the children will be introduced to the people, processes, and work involved in bringing local food products from production to the community. More importantly, they will gain a deeper appreciation for the hardworking individuals and local businesses that contribute to our community and preserve its food traditions.

We are excited to see our little explorers observe, discover, and learn firsthand as they step into the world of local food production!

Another day, another opportunity to turn curiosity into meaningful learning.

One of the most anticipated moments of our educational visit was the opportunity for our young learners to experience, firsthand, the use of a fire hose under the careful guidance and supervision of our dedicated firefighters.

Experiences such as these allowed our learners to move beyond observation and actively engage with what they are learning, transforming an important lesson in fire safety into an authentic and memorable educational experience.

As part of the learning experience, our young learners were given the opportunity to step aboard and experience a ride in a fire truck. This firsthand encounter added an engaging and memorable dimension to their visit, allowing the children to further appreciate the equipment, responsibilities, and important work of our firefighters in keeping the community safe.
