The stage is officially set for a historic milestone as Candon City gears up to host the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet for a second consecutive year, scheduled for March 6 to 13, 2027.

The official turn-over was marked by a courtesy visit at the City Mayor’s Office, where Department of Education (DepEd) Region 1 Regional Director Estela P. Leon-Cariño and Candon City Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Gemma Q. Tacuycuy formally handed over the symbolic R1AA 2027 Torch to City Mayor Eric D. Singson, September 18.

During the visit, Mayor Singson expressed gratitude to DepEd Region 1 officials by presenting Regional Director Leon-Cariño with a scale model of the champion Ikkis ti Candon float—the city's celebrated entry that paraded during the 2025 Independence Day celebration.

Also present during the courtesy visit and turnover ceremony were Leoncio Balbin Jr., City Information Officer and City Sports Coordinator; Antonino Gagarin, Executive Assistant to the Mayor; and Sarah Casuga, Chief- ESSD of DepEd Region 1.

This formal turnover seals Candon City's historic back-to-back hosting rights after also welcoming delegations for the 2026 R1AA Meet.

The upcoming week-long athletic showcase from March 6 to 13, 2027, will gather at least ten thousand of student-athletes, coaches, and sports officials across the four provinces and various cities of the Ilocos Region.

Patpata Elementary School Launches ARAL Program 📚

PATPATA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- September 18, 2026 — With a shared vision of building stronger readers and brighter futures, Patpata Elementary School officially kicked off the ARAL Program today, September 18, 2026, at the school covered court, led by School Principal I, Ma'am Clarissa G. Rosales.

The program marks a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to strengthening Literacy and Numeracy among learners — the two foundational skills critical to academic success.

“Together for Better Reading, Better Learning.” — this guiding principle resonated throughout the gathering as Ma'am Clarissa G. Rosales opened the event with an inspiring message, emphasizing that education is a shared responsibility between the school, the home, and the community.

“The ARAL Program is not just a school initiative — it is a partnership. Every parent, every teacher, and every learner has a role to play in unlocking the potential of every child,” Ma'am Rosales stated in her opening remarks. “Through this program, we aim to ensure that no learner is left behind in reading and numeracy — the very core of all learning.”

The launch brought together teachers, parents, and learners in a unified celebration of shared purpose. Activities included the official introduction of the program framework and a commitment ceremony where parents pledged to support their children’s learning at home.

The ARAL Program focuses on targeted interventions, daily reading practices, and fun-filled numeracy activities designed to make learning engaging and accessible for every learner — from Grade1 to Grade 6.

With Ma'am Clarissa G. Rosales at the helm, Patpata Elementary School sets sail toward a future where every child becomes a confident reader and a critical thinker — one step, one page, one lesson at a time.

Sa Setyembre 28, sabay-sabay nating bubuksan ang panibagong oportunidad para sa mas mahusay at mas makabuluhang pagkatuto sa pamamagitan ng Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program.

Tara na at sama-sama nating palakasin ang kakayahan sa pagbasa at matematika. Dahil sa ARAL Program, bawat hakbang sa pagkatuto ay hakbang patungo sa tagumpay!
