MANGILAG NORTE ES UNDERGOES DEPED QUEZON TA MONITORING; BOOSTS PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION, LITERACY, AND NUMERACY INITIATIVES
To ensure the seamless implementation of basic education programs and continuously elevate the quality of instruction, a team of Field Technical Assistance (FTA) monitors from the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Quezon conducted an intensive monitoring and evaluation visit at Mangilag Norte Elementary School (MNES) on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The monitoring team was led by Officer-in-Charge Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), Mr. Walter F. Galarosa, along with Education Program Supervisors (EPSs) Mr. Jaime Zara (Mathematics), Ms. Carmela Eczel Orogo (Science), and Ms. Jee-Ann O. Borines (Learning Resource Management and Development System - LRMDS).
Aligned with the MATATAG Agenda and the Basic Education Development Plan (BEDP) 2030, the strategic visit evaluated the school’s Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) across the four core pillars of basic education: Access, Equity, Quality, and Resiliency and Well-being.
Despite a heavy downpour, the division monitors systematically gathered data, validated school records, conducted physical inspections, and engaged in a highly collaborative technical assistance mechanism with School Head Mr. Rodel D. Briones and the teaching staff.
Mr. Galarosa examined the school’s baseline data on access, specifically focusing on official enrollment trends, drop-out rates, key performance indicators, and teacher-loading distributions. His evaluation ensured that teaching assignments aligned with DepEd standards and that every learner in the community is safely accommodated in the formal education system.
Focusing on educational equity, Ms. Jee-Ann O. Borines validated the school’s inventory of learning resources against district-wide benchmark data. Utilizing standard LRMDS tracking tools, she evaluated the accessibility and equitable distribution of supplementary learning materials and digital packages to ensure no learner is left behind due to resource gaps.
To assess instructional quality, Mathematics Supervisor Mr. Jaime Zara conducted extensive room-to-room class observations and facility inspections. Mr. Zara verified the teachers' Daily Lesson Logs/Plans (DLL/DLP) to monitor compliance with the ILAW framework and the utilization of contextualized manipulative tools in Mathematics and Reading.
Additionally, Mr. Zara conducted dynamic learner-teacher interviews to assess classroom-level reading and numeracy interventions, evaluating how targeted strategies directly improve student performance under the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning program (ARAL).
Addressing resource sustainability and operational resilience, Science Supervisor Ms. Carmela Eczel Orogo reviewed the school’s operational plans, focusing on fiscal management during budget constraints. She highlighted MNES's proactive practices in strengthening stakeholder partnerships, community resource mobilization, and Adopt-a-School Program (ASP) engagements to augment school maintenance and operating expenses (MOOE).
Ms. Orogo also validated the school's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) protocols and child-friendly learning environment standards, ensuring that learner well-being and safety remain top priorities even during inclement weather conditions.
The monitoring visit concluded with a comprehensive debriefing and exit conference, where each supervisor provided tailored technical assistance, commendations, and actionable recommendations to Mr. Rodel D. Briones and the faculty.
