College of Computer Studies Holds Consultative Meeting for Parents of Fourth-Year Students
The College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Eastern Samar State University β Can-avid Campus successfully conducted a Consultative Meeting for the parents and guardians of fourth-year students on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.
The meeting served as a venue for the College to strengthen its partnership with parents and guardians through meaningful discussions on matters concerning graduating students. Topics included academic performance and attendance, academic requirements for On-the-Job Training (OJT), students' academic status, participation in trainings and seminars, and the proposed Related Learning Experience (Educational Tour).
The program formally opened with a welcome message from Mr. Shoven M. Afable, MATVE-ICT, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, who emphasized the importance of parental involvement in supporting students. He also presented updates on the students' academic standing and discussed the various academic requirements that graduating students must complete.
Following the Dean's presentation, Mr. Max P. Tesoro, owner of Asian Travel & Tours and the College partner travel agency, presented the proposed Related Learning Experience (Educational Tour). He discussed the proposed itinerary, travel arrangements, estimated expenses, payment scheme, and other important guidelines to help parents and students better understand the objectives and requirements of the activity.
An Open Forum followed, providing parents and guardians the opportunity to raise questions, seek clarifications, and share their insights regarding the topics presented. The discussion encouraged active participation and fostered open communication between the College, the travel agency, and the parents.
The activity was also participated in by the College faculty members, including Mr. Rufo Gotonero the ITSO Adviser, who served also as the Master of Ceremony. During the program, he shared a personal reflection based on his own educational tour experience as a former student, emphasizing that some of the most valuable lessons are learned beyond the four corners of the classroom. He encouraged parents to view educational tours as opportunities that provide students with meaningful knowledge, real-world exposure, and experiences that remain valuable long after the journey has ended.
The consultative meeting concluded with the College reaffirming its commitment to working hand in hand with parents and guardians in preparing students for academic success, professional growth, and future career opportunities.
