Aspin stands for Asong Pinoy. These dogs descend from breeds that arrived in the Philippines thousands of years ago and adapted to local conditions over generations. They carry strong immune systems, high intelligence, and a loyalty that has made them fixtures in Filipino households long before purebred trends took hold.

Aspins remain some of the most overlooked dogs in shelters and streets across the country. Many people still favor imported breeds, leaving Aspins undervalued despite their resilience and trainability.
