Exemplifying its commitment to military excellence and operational readiness, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Unit welcomed officials from the Philippine Army and stakeholders on 23 April, for the highly anticipated Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) 2026.
Held at the University oval, the RAATI Team assessed the Unit's readiness, discipline, and operational capabilities. Presided over by Col. George M. Bergonia, Chairman of the RAATI Team, the inspection served as a benchmark for the Unit's compliance with reserve force standards.
The whole-day event commenced with the arrival of honors, followed by a brief orientation and an invocation. In his welcome remarks during the actual program, University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson emphasized the institution's commitment to producing well-disciplined and civic-minded reserve officers.
โTodayโs program is rich with purpose. These exercises will test your leadership under pressure, your decision-making in simulated field conditions, and your ability to function as a cohesive team when it matters most,โ Dr. Salunson stressed.
A ceremonial turnover of the ROTC Corps of Cadets and Unit Color to the inspection team chairman formally opened the evaluation process. Following it was a rigorous sequence of military drills: a ceremonial parade, ranks inspection, and close order drill, each testing the cadets' precision and command ex*****on. In the afternoon, the TAU - ROTC Unit demonstrated small unit tactics and military stakes, showcasing its practical field competencies.
Leading the TAU contingent was Lt. Col. Wilfy P. Jazmin, TAU - ROTCU Commander. His leadership was evident in the cadets' performance, which reflected months of preparation under the National Training Service Program (NSTP) of the University.
The event concluded with the announcement of inspection results, followed by the turnover of the ROTC Corps of Cadets and Unit Color back to the Commandant. With the RAATI 2026 now complete, the Unit looks forward to applying feedback from the RAATI team to further enhance its training and administrative systems in preparation for future regional and national engagements.

Happy birthday to someone who leads with quiet confidence and gets things done without making a show of it. Being a student leader isnโt easy, but you handle it in a way that feels real and grounded. Keep going boldly; the world hasnโt quite caught up to you yet, but it will.
Happy birthday, Gov. Joela. Greetings from your SSC family! ๐โจ

๐๐ข๐ข๐ | TAU now adopts hybrid class scheme for April-May period
Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has officially announced the adoption of a hybrid modality of classes for the remainder of the Second Semester of Academic Year 2025-2026, following consultations between the administration and student leaders.
Under Memorandum No. 120, Series of 2026, released by the Office of the University President on April 15, classes will alternate between onsite and online sessions beginning April 16, with Mondays and Tuesdays designated for online learning and Wednesdays to Fridays for face-to-face classes.
The decision was finalized following a meeting between University President Dr. Silverio Ramon D.C. Salunson, Supreme Student Council (SSC) President Sean Nicole Chico, college governors and vice governors, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) Dr. Sonny D.C. Torres, Faculty Regent Rene G. Nanit, and SSC Adviser Erika Prado.
"We came up with the alternative solution after the president explained the reasons for not endorsing the SSC's initial recommendation. Each college presented insights, and we consulted faculty members to ensure the arrangement was feasible," Chico shared.
This adjustment addresses student concerns after the rejection of the SSC's proposal, with the administration instead adopting a balanced hybrid setup that the SSC President emphasized still provides relief to students.
"Another day of online means another day for us to avoid the heat and save money from transportation," she said. "We didnโt compromise quality education because we still have weekly face-to-face exposure."
Chico also noted that the SSC will monitor the effectiveness of the new schedule through student council surveys and relay any student dissatisfaction directly to the administration.
"As much as we hoped for our initial recommendation to be approved, we respect that the decision has been finalized," Chico added. "Still, we remain hopeful that this new scheme will provide some relief and support for students."
The memorandum further specifies that laboratory classes falling on online days will be rescheduled to onsite sessions, and graduating students will retain the original modality of four-day onsite schedule to complete requirements before the end of April.
Moreover, Chico clarified that subsequent adjustments may be made if conditions worsen, particularly during nationwide transport strikes or extreme heat. She noted that suspending face-to-face classes in such cases falls under LGU authority, with the student council urging that any shift to online learning be announced at least a day in advance to allow students to prepare.
"While the outcome may not be exactly what we wished for, it reflects a balance of priorities that aim to serve the best interests of the student body," the SSC President concluded.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | Regarding the Class Modality from April to May
After consultation, survey, and collective efforts of the Supreme Student Council together with the student body, the recommendation of the scheduled weekly shifting of class modality was deliberated upon today. While the proposal was firmly rooted in the genuine concerns, welfare, and expressed preferences of the students, it was not endorsed by the administration at this time.
In light of this, the university shall maintain the current class modality arrangement of one (1) day allotted for work-from-home or online learning and four (4) days for face-to-face classes, thereby preserving the existing academic structure while ensuring continuity in instruction.
We acknowledge that this outcome may not fully reflect the sentiments and aspirations expressed by many students, and the Supreme Student Council shares in the disappointment that comes with it.
Nonetheless, we stand by the importance of having raised and defended this recommendation as a legitimate expression of student welfare and academic concern.
The voice of the students remains at the heart of our mandate, and we remain committed to translating that voice into meaningful action moving forward.
