𝗟𝗔 𝗡𝗜Ñ𝗔 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧: 𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗦 𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗦 𝗔𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗛𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝟳𝟬% 🌧️

DOST-PAGASA has elevated its ENSO Alert and Warning System to La Niña Alert, citing continued cooling of sea surface temperatures across the central and eastern equatorial Pacific. Current conditions remain cool-ENSO-neutral, but most climate models plus expert judgment place the chance of La Niña at 70% for October, November, and December (OND) 2025, with conditions likely to persist into December 2025, January, and February 2026.

La Niña, the cool phase of ENSO, typically brings more tropical cyclones toward year-end and higher odds of above-normal rainfall over most of the Philippines. Expect boosts from several rain-bearing systems such as monsoon, severe thunderstorms, low pressure areas, easterlies, shear lines, and the ITCZ.

As part of the celebration of Science Month, F. Mendoza Memorial Elementary School, headed by Principal III Ma’am Niña R. Sumalabe, conducted an activity promoting environmental awareness.

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), under the guidance of its adviser, Sir Johndreb B. Manalo, led the dissemination of information on the importance of protecting the Ozone Layer. This initiative aimed to instill in the learners a sense of responsibility toward the environment and to emphasize the vital role of the ozone layer in sustaining life.

Teachers and learners also actively participated in the said activity, showing support and commitment to environmental protection as part of the Science Month celebration.

Though famous for being the unofficial herald of the Christmas Season in the Philippines, September is not just about the start of the nonstop playing of Jose Mari Chan or Mariah Carey's tunes, but also a time to call for genuine resilience, climate action, and the spread of Science and Technology to the youth!

YES-O and Project Kalakalikasan Unite for Environmental Action

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), led by Sir Johndreb Manalo, YES-O Adviser of F. Mendoza Memorial Elementary School (FMMES), spearheaded a bottle collection drive in partnership with the Project Kalakalikasan Team, under the leadership of Ma’am Nina R. Sumalabe, Principal III.

This meaningful initiative promotes environmental awareness and action by encouraging the collection of empty plastic bottles. It highlights the importance of waste reduction and recycling, teaching young learners the value of waste segregation and the idea that there is indeed “cash in trash.”

The collected bottles will not only help reduce the volume of school waste but also serve as a resource for upcoming environmental projects led by YES-O and Project Kalakalikasan.

Through simple yet impactful actions, the school community is building a culture of environmental responsibility—one bottle at a time.

Pinangunahan ito ng mga opisyal at miyembro ng Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), sa gabay ng kanilang YES-O Adviser na si Sir Johndreb B. Manalo at ng Punong-Guro na si Ma’am Niña R. Sumalabe. Isinagawa ang sabayang patay-sindi ng ilaw at iba pang aktibidad na naglalayong itaas ang kamalayan tungkol sa pangangalaga ng kalikasan. Ang mga mag-aaral, g**o, at kawani ng paaralan ay nakiisa bilang pagpapakita ng kanilang suporta sa pandaigdigang adbokasiya laban sa climate change."
