LRC NEWS | Day 5: Sip Nโ Read โ Free Coffee and Snacks
The Learning Resource Center welcomed all ICC students for its Sip Nโ Read activity held on November 28, 2025 (Friday) at the ICC Library. This special event, celebrated as part of the nationwide National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa,โ created a warm and inviting environment that encouraged students to read, study, and relax.
Students who presented their Library ID/Card enjoyed complimentary free coffee and snacks while supplies lasted. The activity aimed to motivate students to visit the library more often, cultivate consistent reading habits, and enjoy a comfortable and relaxed learning atmosphere.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, the Learning Resource Center also provided board games, giving students an opportunity to unwind, socialize, and take a mental break. Students gathered around tables to play strategy games, word games, and classic favoritesโcreating a fun, interactive, and community-centered library experience.
Due to high student engagement, the availability of free coffee and snacks continued from November 28, 2025 (Friday) up to December 1, 2025 (Monday), while supplies remained.
The Sip Nโ Read activity highlighted the LRCโs mission to promote literacy not only through books, but also by fostering a welcoming, enjoyable, and supportive environment where students feel at home.

LRC NEWS | Day 4: Watch A Book โ Little Girl Big Dream
The Learning Resource Center welcomed Grade 3 to Grade 6 learners for its Watch A Book activity held on November 27, 2025 (Thursday) at ICC FINMAC. The activity featured the inspirational childrenโs story โLittle Girl Big Dream,โ presented in a Kids Book Read Aloud format. This program was part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ
The Watch A Book activity aimed to promote visual learning, strengthen comprehension skills, and deepen studentsโ appreciation for storytelling by presenting a book through an engaging audio-visual platform. The story encouraged children to dream big, stay determined, and believe in their abilities.
After watching the story, students were given a handout activity where they wrote their reflections on the prompt: โWhat I want to become when I grow up.โ This allowed them to connect the storyโs message to their own aspirations, fostering self-expression and goal-setting at an early age.
Following the written activity, selected students were invited to share in front of the class what they want to become when they grow up. Their heartfelt and enthusiastic sharing highlighted the impact of the story and the importance of nurturing childrenโs dreams through meaningful reading activities.
Through this combined storytelling and reflective activity, the Learning Resource Center emphasized the power of books to inspire young learners, broaden their imagination, and encourage them to envision a bright and hopeful future.

LRC NEWS | Day 3: Poster-Making Contest
The Learning Resource Center gathered Junior High School and Senior High School students for its Poster Making Contest held on November 26, 2025 (Wednesday) at the ICC Main Library. The event formed part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ
The contest aimed to promote artistic expression, creativity, and literacy appreciation by challenging students to create original posters inspired by the theme. Participants were encouraged to visually interpret how reading serves as a bridge to a hopeful future, expressing their ideas through meaningful illustrations and vibrant designs.
The activity was facilitated by School Librarian Maโam Sofia Irah S. Pahimnayan, who presented the mechanics and judging criteria to ensure fairness and clarity for all participants. Students came prepared with their own coloring materials and ยผ illustration boards, ready to showcase their creativity and artistic talent.
A panel of judgesโTeacher Rosielene G. Cueva, Teacher Nellier O. Armatan, Teacher Ramon S. Gugulin, and Teacher Ma. Jessa Q. Villarealโcarefully evaluated each entry. They assessed the posters based on creativity, relevance to the theme, originality, and overall visual appeal.
The library was filled with focused and enthusiastic participants as they sketched, colored, and crafted artworks reflecting their interpretations of the theme. Their outputs highlighted both artistic skill and an appreciation for the importance of reading in shaping the future.
The winners of the Poster-Making Contest will be officially announced on December 1, 2025.

LRC NEWS | Day 2: Read Aloud โ Storytelling for Preschoolers
The Learning Resource Center gathered the preschool learners of Immaculada Concepcion College for its Read Aloud: Storytelling activity held on November 25, 2025 (Tuesday) at ICC FINMAC. This event was conducted as part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ
The activity aimed to cultivate early literacy, spark imagination, and develop listening comprehension among young learners. Through engaging and interactive storytelling, preschoolers were introduced to the joys of reading and the magic of stories at an early age.
The storytelling session was led by Library Staff Maโam Amor A. Go, whose expressive narration, lively gestures, and warm interaction captured the childrenโs full attention. Her animated delivery encouraged the preschoolers to listen closely, visualize scenes, and interact with the story, making the session both entertaining and educational.
Following the storytelling, the Learning Resource Center distributed a coloring handout activity to the preschoolers. This allowed the children to reinforce their understanding of the story through creativity and art. With crayons in hand, they eagerly colored their handouts, showcasing imagination, focus, and enthusiasm. The activity served as a fun extension of the story while supporting the development of fine motor skills.

The Learning Resource Center brought together Junior High School students for its Local Witty Lines activity held on November 24, 2025 (Monday) at the ICC Library Main, as part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ
The activity aimed to promote creativity, self-expression, and literary appreciation among students by encouraging them to compose original Filipino witty lines, commonly known as hugot lines, inspired by books and reading. Participants were challenged to craft clever, humorous, and meaningful lines that reflected their understanding of literature and its connection to everyday life.
The activity was facilitated by Library Staff Sir Jemmie Jonior B. Joven, who thoroughly explained the mechanics, rules, and judging criteria to ensure that all participants understood how to compete fairly and creatively. Students were enthusiastic and actively engaged in writing their entries, demonstrating impressive imagination and linguistic skills.
Throughout the activity, students showcased their ability to connect literature to personal experiences, highlighting how reading can inspire creativity, enhance critical thinking, and foster emotional expression. Many entries reflected humor, insight, and clever wordplay, proving that literature can be both educational and entertaining.
The Learning Resource Center also announced that the winners of the Local Witty Lines will be officially announced on December 1, 2025, giving students and faculty the opportunity to anticipate the most creative and outstanding entries.

LRC NEWS | A Four-Day Book Fair: Lampara Publishing House Inc.
As part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa,โ the Learning Resource Center successfully hosted a four-day Book Fair featuring Lampara Publishing House Inc. from November 17 to 20, 2025, at ICC FINMAC. The event showcased a wide variety of childrenโs books, picture books, and storybooks designed to spark curiosity and cultivate early reading habits among students.
Throughout the week, learners from different grade levelsโalong with faculty membersโvisited the fair to explore engaging and affordable titles. The activity promoted reading as a bridge to knowledge and personal growth, aligning with the schoolโs National Reading Month celebration.
The Book Fair provided students with opportunities to discover new stories, enhance their literacy skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for reading. Teachers also guided students in selecting age-appropriate books that support both academic learning and personal development.
The event concluded with positive feedback from students and staff alike, reaffirming the importance of accessible reading materials in nurturing a strong reading culture within the ICC community.
