LRC NEWS | Day 5: Sip Nโ€™ Read โ€“ Free Coffee and Snacks

The Learning Resource Center welcomed all ICC students for its Sip Nโ€™ Read activity held on November 28, 2025 (Friday) at the ICC Library. This special event, celebrated as part of the nationwide National Book Week 2025, with the theme โ€œTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa,โ€ created a warm and inviting environment that encouraged students to read, study, and relax.

Students who presented their Library ID/Card enjoyed complimentary free coffee and snacks while supplies lasted. The activity aimed to motivate students to visit the library more often, cultivate consistent reading habits, and enjoy a comfortable and relaxed learning atmosphere.

To make the experience even more enjoyable, the Learning Resource Center also provided board games, giving students an opportunity to unwind, socialize, and take a mental break. Students gathered around tables to play strategy games, word games, and classic favoritesโ€”creating a fun, interactive, and community-centered library experience.

Due to high student engagement, the availability of free coffee and snacks continued from November 28, 2025 (Friday) up to December 1, 2025 (Monday), while supplies remained.

The Sip Nโ€™ Read activity highlighted the LRCโ€™s mission to promote literacy not only through books, but also by fostering a welcoming, enjoyable, and supportive environment where students feel at home.

LRC NEWS | Day 4: Watch A Book โ€“ Little Girl Big Dream

The Learning Resource Center welcomed Grade 3 to Grade 6 learners for its Watch A Book activity held on November 27, 2025 (Thursday) at ICC FINMAC. The activity featured the inspirational childrenโ€™s story โ€œLittle Girl Big Dream,โ€ presented in a Kids Book Read Aloud format. This program was part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โ€œTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ€

The Watch A Book activity aimed to promote visual learning, strengthen comprehension skills, and deepen studentsโ€™ appreciation for storytelling by presenting a book through an engaging audio-visual platform. The story encouraged children to dream big, stay determined, and believe in their abilities.

After watching the story, students were given a handout activity where they wrote their reflections on the prompt: โ€œWhat I want to become when I grow up.โ€ This allowed them to connect the storyโ€™s message to their own aspirations, fostering self-expression and goal-setting at an early age.

Following the written activity, selected students were invited to share in front of the class what they want to become when they grow up. Their heartfelt and enthusiastic sharing highlighted the impact of the story and the importance of nurturing childrenโ€™s dreams through meaningful reading activities.

Through this combined storytelling and reflective activity, the Learning Resource Center emphasized the power of books to inspire young learners, broaden their imagination, and encourage them to envision a bright and hopeful future.

LRC NEWS | Day 3: Poster-Making Contest

The Learning Resource Center gathered Junior High School and Senior High School students for its Poster Making Contest held on November 26, 2025 (Wednesday) at the ICC Main Library. The event formed part of the nationwide celebration of National Book Week 2025, with the theme โ€œTulay ang Pagbasa sa Bukas na Puno ng Pag-asa.โ€

The contest aimed to promote artistic expression, creativity, and literacy appreciation by challenging students to create original posters inspired by the theme. Participants were encouraged to visually interpret how reading serves as a bridge to a hopeful future, expressing their ideas through meaningful illustrations and vibrant designs.

The activity was facilitated by School Librarian Maโ€™am Sofia Irah S. Pahimnayan, who presented the mechanics and judging criteria to ensure fairness and clarity for all participants. Students came prepared with their own coloring materials and ยผ illustration boards, ready to showcase their creativity and artistic talent.

A panel of judgesโ€”Teacher Rosielene G. Cueva, Teacher Nellier O. Armatan, Teacher Ramon S. Gugulin, and Teacher Ma. Jessa Q. Villarealโ€”carefully evaluated each entry. They assessed the posters based on creativity, relevance to the theme, originality, and overall visual appeal.

The library was filled with focused and enthusiastic participants as they sketched, colored, and crafted artworks reflecting their interpretations of the theme. Their outputs highlighted both artistic skill and an appreciation for the importance of reading in shaping the future.

The winners of the Poster-Making Contest will be officially announced on December 1, 2025.
