University of the East-Caloocan student and BS Electronics and Communications Engineering senior Mark John M. Matibag was one of the delegates from across the country to the 8th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit (AFLBS), which was held last August 16 to 17 in Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu City.

At the summit, Mr. Matibag (pictured) was also part of the team that emerged as this year’s Champion of the 8th AFLBS Case Study Presentation. His groupmates included his peers from Ateneo de Manila University, Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City, Notredame University-Mindanao, University of San Jose Recoletos, University of San Carlos and Mindanao State University.

The AFLBS is an annual gathering of the Top 90 carefully selected student leaders across the Philippines, providing a great avenue for the delegates to explore themselves with co-student leaders and share visions about business and leadership.

Mr. Matibag was one of two UE delegates to the AFLBS. With him was Ms. Joy Carandang, the Aboitiz scholar of the UE College of Engineering-Manila.

Mr. Matibag, who is the President of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan’s Engineering Mathematical Coordinating Club, said that his personal interaction with the Aboitiz Executives and the talk each of them delivered moved him further to strive for the best not just in achieving his personal goals but also the goal of “significantly changing our Philippines.”

“While at the summit I kept in mind that I was not just there to sit only as a student-leader carrying the name of my university but that I was also there as a youth of today’s future…eager to be a youth with the purest intentions in actively participating in nation-building.”

Kudos and congratulations, Engineering Warrior!
