Our NSTP experience was never just a list of activities. Every single memory left a mark on our hearts. Today, let me take you back β not from the beginning, but from the last memory moving backwards. Because sometimes, looking back is the best way to see how much we've grown.
Let me start with the bulletin board. Gupit ng colored paper, ayos ng pictures, β it wasn't a big task, but it was ours. That board told our story. It showed everyone who walked by, that service can be silent, but still beautiful. We learned that even small acts of creativity matter.
Before, we had the feeding program. We served spaghetti and hotdogs, along with stuffed toys with our own hands. We looked into the eyes of children who were hungry. And we realized β a meal is not just food. It's dignity. It's saying, "I see you, and I care."
Then came Torres High School. We helped Batch '72, the alumni, in a very special event. We recognized the senior citizens from the barangays that surround Torres High School.
We guided them to their respective lines. We listened to their stories. We saw the smiles on their faces when they received recognition for simply living a life of hard work and kindness. Natutunan namin β the elderly are not a burden. They are a treasure. And honoring them is one of the highest forms of service.
After that, we celebrated Pamaskong Handog. Christmas came early for us. We wrapped gifts, packed food. I remember one child holding a simple toy like it was treasure. Doon ko natutunan β giving doesn't require wealth. It only requires a willing heart.
Then came the visit that changed us β the Home of Joy. We met children who were sick, but their smiles were brighter than the sun. We held their small hands. We played simple games. Akala natin tayo ang magbibigay ng saya β but they were the ones who lifted us. We learned that joy doesn't wait for perfect health. It lives in small, brave moments.
Before those visits, we sat through the DRR seminar. Earthquakes. Typhoons. Fires. It was heavy, but necessary. We learned that the world can be unpredictable β but that doesn't mean we stay helpless. Awareness is the first step of courage.
And finally β the last memory in this speech, but one of the most important β the First Aid Report. We practiced bandaging wounds. We checked pulses. We learned what to do when someone falls, bleeds, or stops breathing. Hindi ito magarbo. But it was our foundation.
So here we are. From bulletin boards to bandages. From feeding children to visiting the sick. Mula sa saya, hanggang sa kahandaan.
Our NSTP memories are not random. They are a full circle β from learning first aid, all the way to creating joy, guiding the young, sharing meals, and comforting the weak.
We started with skills. But we end with full hearts.
Thank you, NSTP. Thank you to our professor, Ms. Ellen Obusan. Thank you to the community. And thank you to every classmate who showed up β not just to pass a subject, but to learn how to care.
Mabuhay ang kabataang handang maglingkod!
