How's your week so far, ๐’Ž๐’‚๐‘ณ๐‘ฐ๐‘ฒ๐‘ฏ๐‘จ๐’Š๐’๐’”!? After weeks of effortful grinding, we're now only a few steps away from reaching the finish line! Before returning to your creative battlefields, try to ponder this question:

๐‘ฏ๐’๐’˜ ๐’…๐’ ๐’š๐’๐’– ๐’—๐’Š๐’†๐’˜ ๐’š๐’๐’–๐’“ ๐’๐’˜๐’ ๐’‘๐’†๐’“๐’”๐’๐’๐’‚๐’ ๐’ˆ๐’“๐’๐’˜๐’•๐’‰? ๐Ÿค”

Navigating life gives you the option to commit to different sets of perspectives. As is the case for all of us, changes in perspective can be transformational! However, what does this say about our perspective on intelligence and skill? Let's answer such a question by exploring Carol Dweck's uplifting theory about growth and fixed mindsets!

ALL ABOUT: ๐†๐‘๐Ž๐–๐“๐‡ ๐Œ๐ˆ๐๐ƒ๐’๐„๐“ ๐“๐‡๐„๐Ž๐‘๐˜ ๐Ÿง

Growth mindset theory was developed by Carol Dweck, a Stanford University psychologist. It was first introduced in her 2006 book, "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success." In her research, Dweck found that people who had a growth mindsetโ€”the belief that they could develop their abilities through effort and learningโ€”were more likely to achieve success in various areas of life compared to those who had a fixed mindset, the belief that their abilities were set and could not be changed. Since then, growth mindset theory has been widely studied and applied in fields such as education, business, and sports.

Growth mindset theory posits the idea that a person's abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort and learning. It emphasizes the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges as opposed to a fixed mindset, where a person believes their abilities are set and cannot be changed. Adopting a growth mindset can lead to better academic and career success, as well as personal growth and development!

The Hawthorne effect is a phenomenon in which people's behavior changes when they are aware that they are being studied or observed. This can lead to improved performance or changes in behavior that are not directly related to the intervention being studied, but are instead a result of the increased attention and social interaction that come with being part of an experiment or study. In simple terms, it refers to the ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐›๐ž๐ก๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐จ๐ซ of a group of people due to being observed.

The Hawthorne effect is named after the Hawthorne Works factory, where a series of experiments were conducted in the 1920s and 1930s to study the effects of changes in lighting and other working conditions on the productivity of factory workers. The researchers found that, regardless of the specific changes made to the working conditions, productivity increased simply because the workers were aware that they were being studied.

It does not only apply to research experiments, though! The effect implies that observation and enganging social interaction within the classroom can improve productivity among students. The simple presence of a teacher in a classroom and even other group members in team projects can result in noticeable shifts in productivity and behavior.
